OOC - New Trial Member Ingen Karpov

Everyone welcome our new trial member Jono, playing Ingen Karpov, a
crusty old war veteran and mercenary. He'll not be onboard straight
away, Efof will meet him on the Mollopod ship.
Character Name: Ingen Karpov
Gender: Male
Age: 72
Nationality: Australian
Department: none
Job Title: Security or Defense officer
Player/NPC? active
Physical Appearance
Karpov is an old, wrinkled man, although he is not to be trifled
with. His jaw seems perpetually covered in stubble, and his short,
dark-grey hair is kept beneath a military beret. His entire attire,
in fact, seems reminiscent of military days: a worn desert-camo army
uniform, heavy leather boots; sleeves rolled up the reveal the
muscles that don't seem to have withered a day since he became a
mercenary. Completing the look is a bandoleer slung between his left
shoulder and right hip lined with an array of ammunition for his
modified Winchester, which resides on a holster on his back held in
place by a leather sash running adjascent to the aforementioned
bandoleer. A scar running from somewhere above this man's left ear to
his mid-cheek assures that he isn't just playing dress-ups.
Personality and Interests
Karpov is behind on the latest knowledge and not apt with technology,
but he is still an intelligent man. The battlefield requires that one
must know what to do in even the most spontaneous situation, and so
Karpov has developed a quickness to learn and adapt. He often knows
how to get things done once he understands the situation; his
soldier's wit having remained with him over the years. Unfortunately,
so has his impatience: Karpov is one to go for the first logical
solution to a problem, passionately hating the alternative: sitting
around doing nothing, idly chatting about what you could be doing.
Although he is as sentimental of his army days as he is attached to
his winchester, Karpov is often finding that there are some things he
just can't do as well as he used to.
History
Karpov's unavoidable fate was set in motion the moment he decided to
join the army. Not a year after he was making his way up through the
ranks, wars arose and Karpov was carted off into the battlegrounds.
In the heat and adrenaline of battle, where others might have found
terror or death, Karpov found fulfilment. He enjoyed the frequent
battles while they lasted, and his passion and developing skill made
him an assett to the military.
However, the wars ended hastily. The meager paperwork and training
was dreary at best and amounted to nothing in the long run: Karpov
could not truly enjoy his skills if all he was using them on was a
wooden target. He left the military with naught but his reputation: a
valuable thing indeed, as he hastily became a mercenary, and a
popular one at that. Somewhere along the line he was bestowed with
his modified winchester, a weapon he soon became as inseparable from
as a whale from a barnacle.
Though time bore on, Karpov found fewer and fewer who were willing to
hire an aging, allegedly decrepit mercenary such as himself.
Eventually growing restless and desperate for a way to put his skills
into action, he accepted a mission he normally wouldn't have, which
carried him far and deep into the reaches of space, to an ends he
never could have expected.
