OOC - November is NaNoWriMo

November is NaNoWriMo month
------------------------------------------
Hello everyone! As we're all such super-cool writers, I wondered if
anyone was thinking about doing NaNoWriMo this year?
If you don't know what NaNoWriMo is, there's more info on the website
here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/whatisnano but in a nutshell it's
a national novel writing competition where the goal is to write a
50,000 word novel between the 1st and the 30th of November.
The official website gives a prize to the best novel, but it's also
more of a personal competition for people who want to write a novel,
at least doing it at the same time as other people will mean you get
to support each other.
Blue Dwarf will be NaNo Friendly
-------------------------------------------
Stuck for an idea of what to make your novel about? I want to
encourage you all to write your novel in the Blue Dwarf universe.
Maybe using your existing character, or maybe using totally new and
different ones.
This does mean however that to achieve the goal of 50,000 words you
will have to write a post of 1667 words every single day! I'd
seriously recommend not writing any more than that as it's about 3
sheets of A4 and theres a good chance people will get serious eye-
ache reading it all. You might want to split it up into 2 posts to
give people a little break.
The Prize
-----------
I'm offering a prize of a BD coffee mug to the best story written
over the month, providing that it's over 50,000 words (don't go too
much over that limit, or else my eyes may shrivel up into soulless
lumps of ash after reading it all).
Insanity
----------
I am aware that this might make the group insanely busy over the next
month, or the group might become ruled by one person's story making
everyone else's posts get lost in the fray. But I'm sure that won't
happen, and if it does... hell it's only a month, and I'm sure it
will go back to normal afterwards.
The rules
------------
There are sadly some rules. But these are to benefit everyone rather
than limit creativity.
Only post your story if it's in the BD universe and ties in with Blue
Dwarf, Red Dwarf or your character in some way. Don't post your
zombie crime-fiction love story here otherwise we'll all be like wtf.
Posts should be no more than 1667 words. If it's more please split
into smaller posts.
Don't expect other members to post immediately if you tag them. Not
everyone has time to post every day, so I don't want your NaNo novel
to be derailed because someone hasn't replied to your tag. Best off
using other people's characters sparsely or not at all.
Try not to do anything that will conflict with other people's
stories. If two people are writing epic stories about peace love and
war, they might have planned ahead. Try not to de-rail their story.
That's about it.
I have created a thread on the forum about NaNoWriMo. Please post
your ideas, comments, whatnots in there. This could all go very well,
it could all go tits up, or nobody might bother even doing it!
