Time for a change of heart

"Alright!" yelled Jay as he stepped out of the car and into the heavy rain. "I'm here!"
Jay looked around, the small town on the English south coast had never really had much in the way of industry but there were still a few pockets of factories and warehouses left here and there. This particular industrial park was long abandoned, making it the perfect place for a secret rendezvous.
He glanced over his shoulder for a second, at the car he had driven here, which contained the young Dean and Phil, whom Jay had taken into his custody after rendezvousing with Phil and Dean earlier.
He didn't like what he was about to do, but frankly, he'd been left with little choice.
His mobile rang suddenly, startling Jay and making him fumble as he tried to pull it from his pocket, flipping it open he spoke.
"Chrysler" he said flatly
"Are you alone?"
"That's what we agreed wasn't it?"
"Good. I'm landing now"
A few moments later the sky was filled with the sound of rotor blades chopping in the wind, Jay looked up and saw the silhouette of a helicopter above him, filling the night sky. Rain spattered into his eyes as he did so, but Jay kept on watching as it came in to land in the car park of a nearby factory. He was kicking himself inside. He'd wondered how the assassin had gotten here so quickly from Scotland, when all the time Jay was arseing about riding a motorcycle southward, Nigel had gone and hijacked a helicopter and flown it here. Jay really should have thought of that himself, it was not like he wasn't qualified to fly it.
The helicopter touched down, while Jay stayed rooted to the spot, his suit jacket - having changed out of his McDonalds uniform - flapping in the wind sent up from the chopper until the rotors finally slowed, and eventually ground to a complete halt.
The assassin stepped out, clutching a gun in his left hand and the collar of a young boy's shirt in the other, ushering him forward. Jay recognised the boy, it was him, 20 years ago.
"Are they here?"
"In the car. As agreed."
"Well?"
"Give me the boy first. And the chopper's keys."

The phonecall that Nigel had made to Jay earlier had gone something like this.
Nigel, had told Jay how he had his younger self hostage, but, he was prepared to strike a deal with Jay.
Hand over the young Dean and Phil, and agree to NEVER write another log-entry, thus erasing the Chry'ler Prophecies from history, and he'd release young Jay, meaning, Jay could live on.
Jay was at first reluctant to sacrifice his friends existence to save his own life, but Nigel had explained to him how the trio were not worshipped like benevolent gods, but through fear.
The prophecies told of a time, not to far into Jay's own future, where the three of them were responsible for an incident that destroyed life in no less than 25% of the known galaxy. Human, Eniram, Hymenoptera, Mollopod, Ffionian, all would be gone in less than a decade.
Nigel wasn't trying to destroy his future civilisation, but trying to SAVE others.
Jay couldn't argue with those motives, and suddenly, sacrificing himself and his ship-mates seemed a small price to pay.
Of course, Nigel pointed out, killing Jay in the past as well, would give him no reason in the future to travel back to assasinate him, creating a paradox - but to keep Jay alive, without Dean and Phil would mean that not only did the event that destroyed so many lives never happen, but would be assured to continue *not* happening.....and just to be sure, he'd destroy his journal.

Jay had reluctantly agreed, and so here he was, ready for the transfer.
"Fair enough" replied Nigel "It's not like you can do anything...if you've tricked me, I just need to put one bullet into the kid's head and *poof* bye bye Captain Chrysler"
"Exactly." Jay said.
Nigel placed the helicopter key's in young Jay's hand, then thrust the boy forward, toward Jay, Jay in return tossed the car keys over to him.
Nigel walked over to the car, and flicked the safety off his weapon and gleefully yanked open the door.
Jay knelt down on one knee and pointing toward a car parked far on the other side of the car park whispered into his younger self's ear the word "Run."
"WHAT IS THIS?" screamed Nigel as from the back seat of the car he yanked two child-mannequins and tossed them on the ground. "YOU DECEIVED ME!!" he whirled around aiming his gun at the spot where young Jay had stood, only...he was gone! He heard the screech of rubber tyres and watched as the same convertible he'd chased away from McDonalds in Edinburgh accelerated off the site, the adult Phil Febuggure mooning him as Dean drove the car away, with three children on the back seat
"Oops" said Jay "Sorry!"
Nigel said nothing, but leapt into the car and chased after them.
Jay headed for the chopper...
