Trapped, With Jed?

Who: Nikki, The Captain, Keto.Where: The Medibay, again.  When: 30 Minutes after collapsing in the drive room.Nikki woke up in the medibay her head spinning, her arm... aching. The captain was stood talking to Keto, oh god what had she done?! She tried to sit up but found that the dizziness incapacitated her. Keto saw her and excused himself from the captain’s conversation. ‘Lie down, you must not get up. Understand?’ He spoke incredibly slowly as if she was stupid. Nikki looked him outraged at his attitude. When he turned back to the captain she leapt up, ignoring her dizziness as best she could and launched herself into the holographic scanner suite. She landed with a thud on her wrist which, yes, was still broken. Her scream alerted Keto to her escape so she used almost all of her strength to reactivate the force field. Keto and the Captain were stood on the other side of the force field staring at Nikki as she whimpered under the control panel. ‘Nikki just come out, you’re sick, we need to help you...’ The captain pleaded with her. She looked at him, her face defiant as she typed in the activation code for the scanner. Whatever had happened Jed had the answers. She sat down in the chair as the machine switched on and she was trapped in Jed’s past. The light was dim, flickering, like fire. Oh god it was fire! She spun round looking for something, anything to tell her where she was. The SCS York... Jed! He wasn’t around; all she could see was a giant spider, feeding. It was him, he was eating his crewmates. Nikki ran over to the wreck. She started to look through the debris; A small computer was intact. A woman’s face appeared on the screen, it was so familiar. *This is Captain Samantha Carmen of the SCS York, We are under attack. I repeat we are under attack. Please help us... Collision Imminent!... We know you’re there!... PLEASE!* The transmission cut off. ‘They just abandoned you?’ Nikki said to herself out loud. ‘They left us, and what for? So that they’re experiments wouldn’t get discovered.’ Nikki spun round to see Samantha sat in a corner, her face was contorted in pain as she huddled up mumbling that same sentence over and over. ‘Oh god, Its starting again’ Tears streamed down her face as the young captain ran off, her flesh beginning to mould itself into a new shape. Nikki looked down at the debris. There was a case, with the TransMed logo on the front. She memorised its position in the wreckage. She needed to come back here, she prayed that it would be in the same place. She found herself being pulled from this place, Jed was on the move. He was scrabbling out of the debris after a voice, a distant voice. Nikki had to follow him, she had to keep up. He scrambled up a hill, his bloodstained hands pulling at tree roots and rocks, anything that was stable enough to hold his weight. He dragged his body through bushes and trees his face pouring with blood. ‘Oh the grand old duke of York...’He reached the woman and looked up at her, like a child looks to a parent. Her voice was pure and friendly as she spoke to him. Jed managed to drag his battered body into a sitting position. His mind was tired; he’d reverted to a childlike state. ‘Are ya an angel?’ Ignoring the conversation Nikki crawled over to the tree stump the ‘angel’ had occupied moments before. She stood on it and tried to make a note of where she was. The woman disappeared and Jed was left sat alone, stunned by the day’s events. Then they came. It all went dark and Nikki was left alone in what remained of Jed’s mind. The engineers fought to bring Nikki out of the machine. If she was still in there when the emergency power failed, her mind would be lost forever.See all the ways you can stay connected to friends and family
