Rosette - "Internal Struggle"

<TAGGED from Chris/Keto, good to have you back, being prodded by becca
does you good :D>
<snip>
"Obstacle: hologrammatic beings cannot interact with physical matter,"
she pointed out. The Tree hesitated, then held up a couple of
branches in a shrug.
*Rustle,* it explained, and then picked Rosette off the floor and
carried her towards the medibay's isolated treatment room.
</snip>
"What are you doing to me?!?" Rosette yelled, her unconcious form was
placed gingerly on an operating table. Around her, it was dark. What
would be normally bright from the light of her open eyes was now a dim
grey instead of white. She stared at the Hymenopterran spider in
front of her, the personification of the extra DNA within her.
"I'm poisoning you." It said, matter of factly. "I shut down your
liver and kidneys, what they're seeing is you dying." it added with an
evil grin. Rosette silenced herself, staring at the spider as if it
had killed her child... If she had a child, that is.
"You're... Killing me?" She asked, lights twitched on and off along
the walls and ceiling, charges of brain energy, flying between
neurons. "Turn them back on, NOW!" She shouted at it. She still
wasn't sure if it was the DNA of a male or female Hymenoptera, but
seeing as she was female (last time she'd checked, anyway) it wasn't
far of a jump to assume that this spider was also female.
"If you kill me, you won't be able to take over me, you'll be dead
too." she thought. The spider grinned again.
"On the contrary. I don't need a liver or kidneys." It said,
obviously trying to get the upper hand in their battle. Rosette's
mind jumped with activity as the monitors in the real world were being
plugged into her.
*Rustle, rustle rustle!* the tree exclaimed, pointing a branch at the
brain monitor. The alpha waves chart was through the roof, something
was happening to her mind.
Literally a second later, her O2 levels fell suddenly. She'd stopped
breathing.
"Do you need lungs?" Rosette smirked. "This is MY body. If I can't
have it, then you're not having it either!"
The Spider moved back slowly, their physical battle had ended, Rosette
had more control over her mind than the spider did, so attacking again
would end it all. At the same time, Rosette knew that this was a
Hymenoptera, fighting one of this size and strength in the real world
would be suicidal, so she wasn't attacking now.
"You're bluffing, you wouldn't dare kill yourself." It said.
"Oh, wouldn't I?" Rosette asked, a similarly evil smile appeared on
her face. Another flush of brain activity and her heart stopped for a
second or two, before starting again. "I just killed myself. I can
do it for longer if you want."
The area they were in got darker as the lungs still weren't working,
oxygen wasn't getting to the brain...
The Spider was physically squirming.
"I can turn off more than that, you know." Rosette said. One final
burst of brain activity, she was thinking in a way that the spider
couldn't see.
'So... it doesn't need the liver because it doesn't drink alcohol, so
how does it filter out the acids? unless...'
She stopped her stomach from processing anything. The valves at
either end sealed shut, but the lungs started up again, flooding her
body with new oxygen, fresh from the mask that the Tree had placed
over her mouth.
Her eyes opened, and darted around the room, getting an idea of where
they were. The green tinge to her skin faded slowly as her internal
organs started working again. She sat up quickly, luckily the Tree
hadn't quite figured out how to hold a scalpel, so she hadn't been cut
into yet.
"It's ok. I'm ok." She said, getting down from the table. It was at
this point that she realised she was wearing nothing more than Ambers
jacket. Her face went red as she darted towards the curtains in the
corner of the room where the surgeons jacket hung.
"Assessment: Surgery no longer required. Patient has recovered."
*Rustle rustle, rustle.*
"Negative: My name is not Sherlock."
