Rosette - "Danger Danger, High Voltage"

<snip>"What's the plan now?" Asked Seymour."Same as before." Said Jay. "We get to Holly's central computer. We either format him. Or find some explosives and destroy him."</snip>"Or we could just sit here nice and safe, and wait for mk.10 and the bug to do it all for us." Seymour suggested, in his infinite wisdom.  Jay smacked him over the head."She's called Rosette, not 'the bug'.  She's one of the crew as well, you know." Jay replied."No, she's not actually.  She's a stowaway, not even employed by the JMC!" Seymour argued, laughing at how he'd beaten Jay in an argument."Well then I'll have to offer her a commission when this is over." Jay added.--------------Meanwhile--------------"They're inside, but Holly's security turrets are shooting at them.... we need to fix this now." Rosette said, watching a security camera screen that Mk.10 had hacked into just a moment ago.  He was wired into the ship, and so far, wasn't feeling any suggestion that Holly wanted him dead too."A'right guys?" Holly said, popping up on a screen nearby.  "Oh, right. Guy and Girl." he corrected himself.  He looked down at Mk.10, who got his weapons ready."Security Bot!  Someone claiming to be Lamb Rogon Josh is trying to take over the ship.  Get down to the launch deck and kill him." Holly ordered, then turned to Rosette.  "And see if that civilian can help.""Mark... We're safe.  We've got free roam of the ship!" Rosette called out happily.  They started moving fluidly through the ship again, heading closer to the defense control room with every moment."We need to turn off the external and internal defenses, and open the launch bay doors.  I need my security codes to open the bay doors, but the security teams need more than a security bot to turn off."  Mk.10 said, opening the storage compartment in his chest.  He handed Rosette the luck virus."Use this when you get there, and you'll be able to guess the codes.  It won't last long, so don't use it until you have to." He added, splitting up."Meet me in the Drive Room when you're done!" He called, and watched for a moment as Rosette used her spidery legs to tear off down the corridor, holding her entire body floating in the air just above the ground."Come on, come on, come on." Rosette said, waiting for her acid to melt through the security bulkhead before the defense systems.  It took its sweet time, and the anxiety of the moment only made it feel longer...  She held the vial of luck virus in her hand, and wondered if it was actually safe to use...----------------------------"Come on, we need to make a run for it." Jay said.  "The defense control rooms aren't too far from here, we should be able to turn them off, and hope Mk.10 and Rosette are opening the landing bay doors." He added, pulling everyone along with him.  He stood, and began to run, expecting to hear the sound of laser fire behind him."Huh?" he asked himself, stopping to turn back towards the cannon.  It was just hanging there, pointing at the ground... totally unmoving."Whats happened?" He asked no one in particular."Maybe Override beta-388 is delayed action?" Seymour offered, but received a smack over the head for his trouble.  Harris walked closer to the cannon to take a look."The control system is fried.  Someone caused a feedback loop." He said, prodding it with a finger.  As he touched it, it fired a single low-power laser pulse that hit Seymour square on the forehead.  Luckily the power was low enough to do nothing more than give him a red mark, and annoy the hell out of him.Fighting the urge to crack up, Jay faced the direction of the defense control rooms.  "We need to find out what happened, and make sure its off." He said, starting to move.------------------------------"Well, that was stupid, wasn't it?  You're nearly dead!""No, they'll find me.""They don't even care about you.  They think you're one of us.""No, I'm one of them! This is my home, they are my friends!" Rosette called, trying to push the bug away.  She lay on the floor of the defense control room, the vial of luck virus smashed on the wall, which was now beginning to melt."Good job I didn't use that..." she mused. Her spider-legs were slightly blackened, and the control panels were all slashed, torn by large blades.  The whole lot was sparking, and crackling with electricity."That was really stupid though.  Electricity is dangerous.  There's even a warning sign on the wall over there." The bug said.  Indeed, there was a sign that read something like**warning. High voltage, danger of death**"Honestly, sticking a leg into a high voltage system is a really good way to kill yourself.  Are you suicidal or something?"  the bug asked, laughing at her.<tag people.  Wasn't that fun?>View your Twitter and Flickr updates from one place - Learn more!
