Meanwhile...meanwhile and meanwhile

<"Yes we did." Said Efof. "It almost hit us, it was like, neeewwwoooouuuummmm... boom!""It was broadcasting a distress signal." Said the Captain. "Remember the Space Corps directive 23853B 'It is our primary overriding duty to contact other life forms, exchange information, and, wherever possible...""Bring them sandwiches!" Said Jack Rockfield."Something like that." Said Jay over the radio. "Just go talk to them, help them out if they need it.""But Jay... I mean Captain. Who were they?""Not sure. It could be a totally new alien species we haven't met yet. Which means you're our Ambassadors in a first contact situation. Be nice!" >

Who:- Jay, Seymour
Where:- Jay's Office

Jay cut off the comm and ran his fingers, first through his hair and then down his face, shaking his head as he did so.
"It's always something isn't it..." he turned back to Seymour who was still in his office "How did you cope with this when you were Captain?"
"I told you." Niples replied "I delegated!"
"You mean you didn't give a damn about your crew, and just shrugged everything off for someone else to deal with?"
"Not at first." Seymour replied "I was like you to begin with. Diligent, hard working, caring...but I changed"
"I remember." Jay said "You were actually driven by ambition, not some pompous sense of status and class!"
"Well excuse me for enjoying the finer things in life! Speaking of which, you're a starship captain now, you should be mingling with the movers and the shakers, not courting some grease monkey, or drinking with a commoner such as Phillip FeBuggure!"
"Seymour" Jay said, sitting back in his chair. "What happened to you? You never used to be so intolerant of us "lower classes""
"What are you saying? That I used to frolic with...with RIFF RAFF?" Seymour seemed genuinely offended.
"You used to date the ships Janitor! Katrina Swete!"
"I did no such thing!"
"You practically begged me to help you rescue her when she got ejected into space in an EV suit once! You and I took the Phoenix and pulled her back, you even risked your life for her!"
"I...I..." Seymour threw his arms up in the air "Once a commoner, always a commoner! That's the problem with your sort Mr Chrysler! Forget the rank, you'll always be a PEASANT!"
With that, Seymour stormed off, before poking his head back round the door. "But I bet you'll still wind up resenting them all too!"
"Get out Seymour!" Jay replied
"You'll see!" Seymour gloated, before his eyes widened and he darted out, slamming the door shut just in time for Jay's now airborne stapler to smash into it, splitting open and scattering staples all over the carpet.

Jay shook his head and turned back to the comm. "Harris, can you spare anyone to join the away team on the planet?"
"Not really!" Came the reply "The convicts are tearing up the ship, oh, and not to mention the giant bug!"
"Are you kidding me?" Jay responded.
"I wish I was sir...I kinda need all hands..in fact, do you have anyone YOU can spare?"
"I'll draft in reinforcements from other departments if you need them, you can have anyone you need, with the exception of medical staff, we're gonna need them where they are."
"Aye sir., Oh and Jay?"
"Yes Chris?"
"Dante Wendigo is dead."
"...acknowledged..." Jay turned away from the comm, and rubbed his temples. The command handbook was wrong. No matter how many times it happened, you never got used to your crewmates dying.
"Holly..prepare a funeral service...."

Who:- Jayne, security, convicts
Where:- Promenade
When:- During the riots

"Chrysler!" yelled Eddie Monsoon, "Duck!"
Jayne spun around quickly and saw an escaped prisoner flying head first toward her. Eddie had just tossed him across the barrier of the Promenade without looking first, and he was now headed toward Jayne.
Jayne deftly stepped aside, and as she did so, raised her pistol, and fired a stun bolt into the chest of another prisoner who had taken the opportunity to lurch at her.
"You can go back to piloting y'know!" Monsoon said, smirking
"And miss all this fun?" Jayne said in reply, looking up at her new colleague above her, "Eddie! Look out!" a convict was lunging at Monsoon from behind, a lead pipe, that he'd presumably yanked out of one of the 'Dwarf's maintenence hatches somewhere, swinging wildly above his head.
Eddie ducked, and side stepped at the same time, landing a blow in the mans ribs with his fist and slapping on the mag-cuffs at the same time.
"You'll have to show me how you did that sometime!" Jayne said, "I can think of a few people I'd like to get in handcuff's"
Their banter was cut short however, as the nearby lift doors were torn open from the inside and a giant spider charged out, straight across the promenade, and right towards Jayne.
"Well" Jayne said, reaching over her shoulder and pulling out a shotgun "This just got more interesting."
She cocked her gun and raised it, just as the spider reared up on it's back four legs, it's four front legs high above Jaynes head.
Jayne unloaded a round into the spiders thorax, the spider recoiled, and rolled head over heels backward away from Jayne, pushed along by the momentum of a close range shotgun shell.
It slowly got back to it's feet and looked down at it's cracked shell, where the shell had hit, and then stared back at Jayne, it screeched loudly and charged once more at the clone...

Who:- Katrina, Phil, Efof, Jack
Where:- The planet, in the sinking starbug

<snip>
"Yes i do, but you wont like it....."What is it? oh no...it not Archiver tech is it?""Yes it is...a small sort range matter transporter...good for about 3 or 4 uses then burns out.""But first off, there that " said Jack, poiting to the other crash site.<end snip>

"Phil!" Katrina snapped "Jay's told me all about that archiver stuff!" she pointed at the device in his hands "There is no way in hell I'm using that to get off this planet!"
The Starbug lurched violently and swamp water began lapping over the edge of the hatch, and across the deck.
"We 'ave to get out of 'ere!" said Jack "Forget getting back to le Dwarf for now!"
"He's right" Phil said "We can argue about this later, how far d'ya reckon that crashed ship is?"
"About 2 miles" said Efof, surprisingly helpfully.
"Right." Phil replied "Let's go then!"
"I said I'm NOT using that archiver tech!" Katrina said sternly
Phil sighed, ran over to Katrina and grabbed her, picking her up over his shoulder and running through  to the Starbugs rear section.
"What are you doing? Put me down!"
Jack and Efof glanced at each other, shrugged and decided to follow.
"Shut up, and help me with this!" Phil said, putting Katrina down on the floor and gesturing at a large piece of mobile mining equipment, a tracked vehicle resembling a bulldozer, but with a drill on the front instead of a shovel, and a single seat for the driver.
"'Ow is le mineeng dozer going to 'elp us?" Jack asked "We are in a swamp! It cannot, ow you say, float?"
"No" said Phil "but this can!" he gestured to a very large boat, with a wide flat hull, and a large fan on the back, that was also in the Starbugs cargo bay "It's designed for moving large peices of mining equipment across rivers and onto islands and stuff, you're a miner, you should know that!"
"Ah of course!" replied the Frenchman "Why deed we not think of eet sooner!"
Katrina in the mean time had driven the dozer onto the boat, and nodded back to Phil and the others. They jumped onto the boat, and Phil, grabbing a bazookoid blasted the rear cargo doors, they shattered outwards, and the cargo bay quickly flooded, the boat lifted, floating on the swamp that had invaded the cabin, and Efof started the engine, sailing away from the sinking starbug, and toward dry-land..
"Now, we simply drive the dozer to the crash site once we get on dry land!" Phil said "Simples!"

<Apologies for the shiteness, I just wanted to cover all bases! oh, and tag!>
