Seymour - "Royal Ambassador no more"

<snip>
"Yes." Said the Admiral. "We want to have a public funeral for Queen Brittany.
Would you be able to send her body back to Earth in an airtight coffin?"
"I...urr..." Seymour frowned. "I DID say that she was blown up didn't I?"
"Yes. But we have to bury something. The public demands it."
"Oh." Said Seymour, racking his brains. There really wasn't anything left of
Brittany. The explosion turned the Blue Midget into fragments, there really
wouldn't be anything left. The Mollopod ship firing on them outside his window
told him that they just wouldn't be able to stroll back down to Mollopod and
sift the oceans for bits either.
"I'll... I'll see what I can do." Seymour said, and swallowed hard.

Who: Seymour
Where: Blue Dwarf, Deck 248, Tiddly Widdlys Daycare
When: Early morning
Seymour walked up to the door of the daycare centre, holding the hand of his
daughter.
"Now Alota, you're not going to cause trouble today are you?" He said
patronisingly to his young daughter.
"Mmmm-mmm" She said, shaking her head furiously.
But Seymour still didn't believe her. "Now it doesn't matter if they tease you
because you're different." He said. "Please, please just behave yourself."
Alota nodded her head, but still Seymour didn't believe her. One day last week,
a child in Alota's nursery started to tease her and pull on her white fluffy
tail. Alota got angry and created a small wormhole which deposited the bully
onto a nearby small moon where he was eaten by a vicious gang of vole-men.
Seymour had to pay out a lot of money to the family, and the Tiddly Widdlys
Daycare nursery had told him that if that ever happened again, Alota would have
to go somewhere else. But there really wasn't anywhere else on the Blue Dwarf,
except a badly run nursery at the horrible end of the Promenade ran by a man
called "Alistair the Pedo". The place was dirty and in need of a serious clean.
Seymour had checked into an STD clinic after just going for a look around.
It just wasn't an option.
"You will be good won't you?" Seymour repeated.
She nodded her head again and started to walk into the daycare centre. She
wasn't yet old enough to go to school, and Seymour was often away from the ship
for long periods of time, so this was where she spent most of her days.
Unfortunately Alota was a bit different to the other children because of her
alien mother.
Seymour still didn't believe her and dragged her back.
"Alota. Do the other children pick on you?"
"Yes daddy. Day say my tail is stoopid." She said.
"They." Seymour corrected.
"Yes daddy. THEY say my tail is stoopid." She said again. "Daddy why do I have a
stoopid tail?" She turned around and started playing with her white fluffy
rabbit's tail, a genetic trait of her mothers species, the Karangeth.
Seymour had been expecting this day. But he still wasn't prepared for it. "It's
because... err... well.... you're special that's all."
"I hate it!" She said. "I hate it, I hate it!"
Seymour calmed her down by putting a hand on each side of her face. "Alota. Your
tail was a present from your mother. It makes you very special."
Alota glared back at him, she was just on the verge of understanding how the
world worked, and her speaking ability still wasn't quite good enough to ask the
questions she wanted to know.
"Mother. Mummy?"
"Yes Alota. Now run along, Daddy has a busy day."
"Daddy tell me 'bout mummy."
"Another day Alota. Now go inside."
"NO TELL ME 'BOUT MUMMY NOW!" She screamed, and threw her tiny arms around in a
tantrum.
Some parents walked past them and into the nursery. Seymour apologised to them.
"Alota, you're making a scene!"
"Tell me 'bout mummy!" She repeated.
"You aren't old enough to understand!" Seymour said. "And I think you'll find
it's 'about', not 'bout'."
"TELL ME ABOUT MUMMY!" She screamed again, and folded her arms dramatically.
Seymour checked his watch, he desperately wanted to be somewhere else. "I'll
tell you what," he said. "If you're good today, then I'll tell you all about
your mother tonight. Okay?"
Alota nodded her tiny head.
"Okay go inside now." Seymour said, and waved goodbye to her.
Alota disappeared in a swirling wormhole. Seymour didn't see where she went but
heard a scream from the frightened nursery teacher inside as she just
mysteriously appeared.
"And use the door!" Seymour shouted at her, shook his head and walked off.

Who: Seymour
Where: Outside his Ambassadorial Apartment
When: Few minutes later
Before he entered his apartment, Seymour met the chief of security Chris Harris
at the door.
"Ahh Security." Seymour said. "I'm glad you're here, there's some damage in my
flat which I've got proof was caused by none other than Captain Jay Chrysler."
"Actually..." Said Harris. "That's not-"
"Come in and I'll show you the damage. There's Bazukoid blast marks all over the
wall, frankly it's disgusting. I'm appalled it could ever happen..."
"Seymour that's not why I'm here."
"Oh?" Seymour stopped. "What is it?"
Harris paused, uneasy about what he was going to say next. Seymour put a hand on
his shoulder. "Don't worry old chap. Come inside and I'll fix you up with a
lovely cup of early grey tea. The damage is bad, but luckily the 1847 oak
cabinet where I store all my tea was unharmed."
"Actually Seymour... that's the problem." Said Harris.
"What? Someone;'s harmed my 1847 oak tea cabinet?" Seymour said, appalled.
"No. We can't go inside." Said Harris. "This is an apartment reserved for
special dignitaries." he said.
"But I'm a Royal Ambassador!" Seymour whined.
"Actually..." continued Harris. "Since the Death of Queen Brittany, any Royal
Ambassadors are removed from their position, unless they are reinstated by the
next monarch."
"What are you saying?" Seymour asked. "I'm out of a job?"
Harris nodded. "And you can't live here any more."
Seymour grabbed Harris by the shoulders and shook him. "I'm not a Royal
Ambassador any more? What am I going to dooooooo?!" He embraced Harris and
sobbed on his shoulder.

Who: Captain Amber Keats and Seymour Niples
Where: Captain's Office
When: A few minutes later
Seymour barged into the office. Amber was stood there looking lost.
"That's fine, come right in." She said sarcastically. "I'm not really sure about
what I'm supposed to be doing with all of this paperwork..."
Seymour couldn't wait so blurted it straight out. "I demand that I have my old
apartment back!" He shouted.
"Err... what?" Amber asked.
"My apartment, it's for dignitaries only so I've been evicted as the Queen is
dead." He said.
Amber rubbed her forehead.
"Seymour, is this important right now?" Amber asked. "We're damaged from a
firefight, we're stranded in the middle of space, and the Captain's just left me
all this paperwork which I don't really understand. Can it wait?"
"No." Seymour slammed his fists on the desk.
<Tag Amber, can you help Seymour out? Maybe assign him some quarters somewhere
else?>
