"Come home soon Jade. I love you." Abbie said a big grin on her face now she had control of her emotions.

The camera panned back to Ted's heavily tanned and beautifully coiffured visage
"That's so moving" he drawled, oozing insincerity "It truly is an honour to be here and hear all these touching stories on this very special day of remembrance"
He paused to flash a brilliantly white smile as his twinkling eyes momentarily drifted beyond the camera
"Quick Garry!" Ted darted out of shot, the camera wobbling as he dragged the cameraman around to point towards a pretty girl in her early twenties being consoled by her mother "There..." he breathed "Human misery - God I love it!"
He sidled back into shot as Garry pulled the camera back into a deep focus, keeping both Ted and the girl in shot
"In these dark and troubled times" Ted burbled "It's wonderful to see so many people coming together, to unite in their remembrance for the hundreds of heroes tragically lost along with the Blue Dwarf"
"As hope slowly fades for their safe return" he continued "We must draw solace from the fact that none of those assembled here will ever forget their friends and loved ones..."
"If I may?" a tall, shaven headed man in a black suit approached and expectantly held out his hand out for the microphone
"By all means" Ted beamed, handing him the mic "Let’s hear your message!"
The man turned to face the camera, and with his free hand pulled a piece of ancient looking parchment out from inside his suit jacket
"My name is Ian Stuart" the man began, as he ponderously unfolded the document "I am one of the senior partners with DEP Legal, and believe it or not, in spite of this document having allegedly been written on the fourth of June, seventeen ninety four, and having subsequently been passed down through a succession of legal firms throughout the last four hundred years, it comes with very specific instructions that it should be read to the camera at this event"
"Good lord!" Ted was astonished "What on earth does it say?"
"I was getting to that" Mister Stuart glared at him before returning his gaze to the document, his brown eyes scanning the angular, spidery writing on it "The text reads as follows: Dearest J, I've managed to escape and I'm in Hertfordshire. So far I'm fine, but things are getting dangerous. If you're able I'd greatly appreciate a way out of here. I'm very sorry for asking, but I trust nobody else. Yours, C"
Stuart looked up to stare straight into the camera “Whoever ‘C’ is, signs the letter with a kiss”
"What the hell was that?" Ted demanded in astonishment "Some kind of hoax, surely!?"
"Perhaps" Mister Stuart shrugged, handing him the microphone and refolding the document to slip it back inside his jacket "I can only assume that it means something to somebody; but with my obligations here discharged, this concludes DEP's involvement in the matter. I thank you for your time, and bid you all a good day"
He nodded curtly to the viewers and to Ted before turning to shoulder his way through the press of bodies surrounding them
"Well, that was an entirely unexpected turn of events" Ted was quick to recover himself "Let's go and talk to some of the other relatives..."
