Cmdr. Smegg - "Robot Wars!!!"

OOC - An idea I had a while back but never got around to posting; Steev, your last post reminded me to bring it out! (And wow, I'm actually posting; I was thinking about how I might have to drop out sometime (faroff), what with the fact that I hardly ever post anymore and I'll be busy at college in September - what would happen to Smegg? if I do I'll have a poll although I won't necessarily go by the results - if a bunch of Harris's henchmen want Smegg to die a grisly death getting chewed up by a giant cogwheel, that's their problem!)

Location: Smegg's quarters
Time: Who knows? Who cares? (Well, OK, sometime on March 3, I guess)

Since the successful destruction of (most of) the asteroid fragments (a few got through and hit the capital of the colony during a session of Colonial Congressparliament, killing all the senatorlords; the colonists rejoiced and then set about holding new elections, the idiots) and the repair of the minor hull damage to the ship, and also the captain's death (surprisingly, Smegg found himself not really caring, but then nobody ever saw the captain anyway, he was always off playing "pong" against Holly [guess who won]), Ed realized this was a really long sentence and decided to end it. The sentence, that is. Anyway, the engineers hadn't had much to do lately and they were getting kind of bored. Smegg had been thinking about something to improve their morale and finally he hit on it. He began composing a message to post on the ship's electronic bulletin board:

To: All Crew Members
From: Cmdr. Jason Smegg
Subj: Robot Combat Competition!

An Invitation to All Crew Members to Have Fun & Smash Things!!!
********WHAT? Robot Design & Combat Competition!!!
********WHERE? Squash Court #4 on the Rec Deck
********WHEN? March 31st
********WHO? All Crew Members Welcome, Not just engineers!
********HOW? See Rules Below.

RULES: There will be two classes of competition: one for Engineers, and one for Non-engineers, so as to give the Non-engineers a chance to try their hand at Robot design without getting slaughtered in the first round! Each match will consist of 2 robots, one placed on either end of the empty arena, and the object is to destroy the enemy robot or render it incapable of fighting. The winner will advance to the next round to battle the winner of another match after repairs & design tweaks. Each class of competition will be divided into two tournaments: Remote-controlled and AI-controlled. Robots may be constructed of any materials and they may use any method of propulsion including flying (or none at all). The one restriction on robot construction is that, due to concern for the janitorial and security departments, weaponry employed by the robots may not deliver a force of greater than 100 lbs. Prizes will be determined at a later date.

Good luck!
