Dren was moving further and further away from the BD. Dirk, with still quite a
buzz, at first thought that the planet below would break Dren's fall. Then, he
remembered- "Re-entery's a bitch." Dirk had to think quick, or Dren would be a
crispy critter in less than a minute. He opened his zero-g toolbox(everything
was either magnatized or strapped in) and searched. He found a length of bungee
cord that he could use to snap Dren back to the ship. But how was he going to
get it to him. Throwing something in zero-g was as useless as college degree in
liberal arts. He searched his toolbox again. "Wait a second!" There was a
beer can strapped to the bottom of the box. "Of course! My emergency can!"
Dirk quickly tied the can to the end of the cord. He turned to aim it towards
Dren, who was doing the funcky chicken as his orbit deterriorated. Dirk poped
the top and watched as the can went flying into Dren's hands. "No thanks, I'm
not thirsty," was Dren's reply.
"No, smeghead! Tie the rope around your waste, and I might pull you in."
"Oh! Cool!" Dren complied and tied the cord around his waste. Dirk gave as
hard of a pull on the line as possible in space. It was enough to change Dren's
momentum back towards the ship. Dren connected with the side of the ship just
above Dirk. Dirk pulled him back down to the runway they were on. Dren's
magnetic boots clanged to the hull of the ship.
"This time keep your feet on the metal and hold the box still while I finish
attatching it," Dirk ordered while thinking of why he ever let Dren out in the
first place. "We don't want anyone to know what we're doing."
The two men finished their project and returned to get Darla. Instead of having
her leak fixed, she was covered in some kind of ointment that smelled like bacon
grease. "I told you that wouldn't do any good. Now look. If you smoke around
her, she'll go up in flames," said Dirk. The two men, and Darla, returned to
Dirk's room to see what goodies their labors have produced.
