"Just my smegging luck," Dirk thought to himself. "Yet another psycho hologram.
But this one's supposed to be on our side!" He and the rest of the team had
put on their gas masks (nothing in my previous posts suggested that they were
wearing them while searching the ship) and stood around Allie. He reached into
her soft light body and grabbed her lightbee. Allie flickered and deactivated.
"Weird," he said to himself as he looked at the bee. It was a bit larger than a
normal lightbee. It seemed to have a generator capable of producing power for
the bee for extended intervals, but not indefinite. There was also a chunck of
some unknown (at least to Dirk)green substance in the center. At once he
noticed that this was being slowly turned to a gas state. The poison. And Dirk
realised that the balloon wouldn't be big enough to hold all of it. "Curly, the
balloon!"
Tom looked confused for a moment, then opened the balloon for Dirk to throw the
bee into. "We need to get to the nearest airlock." They took off. Dirk suited
up for a space walk while Tom, Dick, and Harry put the ever increasing bag into
the airlock. When Dirk finally got in, there was hardly any room for him. The
balloon was taking it all up. He signaled for the security dopes (as he so
often refered to them, not to their faces) to close the inner door and open the
outer.
As soon as the inner door closed and the cabin began to depressurize, Dirk
opened the balloon and grabbed the lightbee. As the outer door opened, he
kicked the balloon out and held the bee. It stayed in the same shape. The gas
inside instantly froze in the balloon and held the shape. The gas stopped
coming from the lightbee. It stayed in the solid form. He pulled the substance
out of the bee and flicked it into space like a big green booger. Dirk debated
on whether or not to send Allie out with it. Then, he decided that it wasn't
his call. He couldn't kill a shipmate, even if she was already dead. But what
was that he had read in his supercomputing class about personality conversions
for biological bodies to hologram ones? "I think, therefore, I might be."
Dirk signaled to be let back in. He dismissed Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, and
Tweedle Dipshit to go back to harrasing the crew to make up for their own lack
of self-confidence and self-love. He made his way back to the Drive Room to
report back to White Wolf, as ordered. All the way he stared at Allie's
deactivated lightbee as he tossed it up and down in his hand. He couldn't help
wonder why she would do such a thing. And her words about why she hated the
living stuck in his head. She was going to do it. She was actually going to
try and kill the entire crew. He had to pity someone who was that screwed up.
Then again, he had to be careful of that kind of person also. As much sympathy
as she deserved, once she endangered the crew, it was all thrown out the window.
Holly appeared on the monitor. "Bell, I think I found were the gas leak is now.
Won't be too long until it fills the ship. We've got to do something, quick."
"Holly, I've already taken care of it. See?" Dirk held the lightbee up to the
monitor in the hall.
"So you have. Good thing I showed up in time, or God knows what would have
happened then." The bald AI disappeared.
"I really do hate space," muttered Dirk as he walked down the hallway.
