On the Blue Dwarf
Not long after the rescue party got back
"Captain!!!" shouted Phil
Niples stuck his head round the dor frame.
"Yes Phil, what is it?"
"We're going have to majorly reinforce the dwarf before those engines
are attached!"
"Why?"
"Because if we don't balance the engines properly on a reinforced
hull, the engines will tear the ship apart..."
Niples looked at his watch, "The Aerons should be here soon. Make it
snappy please Mr. Febuggure. I want to get out of this place before
that missile launches if preferable. The thought of mass destruction
of an entire race makes me a little queesy." Niples said in his noble
voice.
Outside the BD
Pheonix
The reason for the heaviness was the giant tank bolted to the top
of the Phoenix. Jay had supervised its installation, wanting to be
sure that no permanent damage was done to the Phoenix. Inside that
tank was about three hundred cubic metres of Keto's 'ointment', ready
to be sprayed out of the wide-angle nozzle that had temporarily
replaced the Phoenix's weapons systems.
Slowly, Jay flew the craft in a circle, until it was facing back at
the Dwarf.
"Ready," he said. Keto sighed.
"Here we go," he said, and pressed the button to start spraying.
The vapour was released in a spray that soaked the surface of the
gigantic floating mining ship. It was at this moment that Captain
Niples opened a hatch in the top deck of the ship and slambered out,
straightening his expensive jacket. The vapour of ointment covered
him as the Pheonix flew overhead.
The captain shook his fist in the air at the passing aircraft, "I
havn't forgotten what you did to the Space Eagle Mr. Chrysler, and
now this! I bought this suit in London...."
The ointment set and the suit became rigid, the Captain's fist
remained stuck in the air. "Oh dear, deary me." he said, nonplussed
but remaining calm. Katy Roskev clambered through the hatch that
Seymour had just used, wearing an already filthy boiler suit.
"With all due respect Captain, that isn't the right kind of attire to
wear here..."
"I think I have noticed that Miss Roskev thank you very much." said
Niples trying to retain his dignity and not look stupid in front of
his crew.
"Don't just stand there Lieutenant! Help me with my arm..."
Katy snapped Nipl'es arm back into position, the material in his suit
bent like metal. The ointment obviously was good, maybe Semour should
suggest to Keto that it would be good for clothes. At least you
woudn't have to iron your dinner suits again. And if you sprayed it
on your tux, it would be intstantly bulletproofed.
Two ships dropped out of the clouds with a shril engine sound as they
landed on the top of the floating blue mass. As the ship's engines
reveres thrust while they landed, Niple's jacket would normally blow
in the wind, but today it remained firm.
Niples limped proudly to the closest Aeron ship. Each had an engine
strapped onto the back, along with plenty of attaching wires, cables
and bolsters. The engines looked like huge retro-rockets, each one
bigger than 10 men and with power enough to move a quarter of the
huge blue mining ship.
An Aeron got out of the first ship and walked up to Niples and
Roskev. He was a burly felow with stubble on his chin, he was wearing
a construstion hard-hat with the trademark Aeron wings coming out of
each side.
"'Ello guv, where do you want 'em?"
"Hello there sir." Niples greeted him, trying to shake the mans hand
but realising his arm was restricted by his stiff jacket. "You will
have to see our scientist Mr. Febuggure, he is around somewhere. He
was calculating where the rockets need to be positioned to balence
the ship. We do not want to take off and do another nose dive do we?"
Niples chuckled.
The Aeron engineer smiled and chewed some kind of gum.
<<Over to you Phil, I know this doesn't give anyone anything very
interesting to do, but it does give me time to write the next action.
If the Engineers could fit the engines and everyone else get rid of
the Enirams on board then we'll be ready to go! But nobody write
about us taking off just yet, I'll do the action plot to lead us.
Thanks.>>
