Niples "Can we trust them?"

White Wolf, Phil, Mini-Phil, Jay, Seymour and the group of Ambassadors
Hymenoptera Home World
Seymour followed in the group, he of course gave the pretence that he was
leading the way as he boldly brought up the rear.
The Hymenoptera guards bugged him (gettit?). There was something about
gigantic insectoids staring at him that made him uneasy. Especially when
those same gigantic insectoids had tried to eat you, kill you, maim you and
drill inside your head.
The Hymenoptera ‘warriors’ walked alongside, and behind, the group felt like
they were being herded like animals.
The soldiers were large, larger than a person, but Seymour had seen larger.
He found it quite interesting to know about the hierarchical structure of
the Hymenoptera hive organisation. Some smaller insects could be seen
further in the distance outside before they entered the large ant hill, they
seemed to be the workers, they brought food or some kind of material in a
long line into another opening of the ant hill. Seymour seemed to be person
taking the most notice, the Ambassadors were revising their speech notes, WW
seemed to be trying to politely start a conversation with the insect foot
soldier that was leading the group alongside evil Jay.
Inside the mount, they were lead through a network of very dimly lit
tunnels, some leading off down, some upwards- where it seemed completely
impossible to the human mind that anyone could travel, it was a hive of
activity, worker ants were busily going about their business, crawling all
over the walls and ceilings of interconnecting tunnels. Mostly not even
caring about the new quadruped arrivals, but some workers turned their
sectoid heads in some intrigue, before larger spikier soldier Hymenoptera
glared at them until they continued to work.
As they walked, the tunnels seemed to grow larger, and suddenly they were
walking on a ledge over a deep chasm seemingly in the centre of this hive.
Lighting and a deep glow of red lit the chasm from the hole in the ant
hill-style roof. Below were millions of workers, on various levels of floors
working together to create things, on one side eggs were being transported
from room to room, a lot of eggs. Most were working on creating what looked
like flying ants, or ships.
“Good grief!!!” Seymour said in shock looking down.
“What are those?” Phil looked down too and stumbled on the edge. Rubble from
the edge fell down. Phil lost his balance and toppled over the edge.
“Woahhhhh……ahh?”
A hymenoptera soldier had caught him in its razer sharp mouth-pincers just
before he fell and held him in mid-air.
The already nervous and twitchey Jay brought out his pulse pistol and held
it to the soldiers head. “Put him down! I’ve never thought twice about
wiping a squashed bug off a Starbug windscreen, and I wont feel guilty to
see another splattered bug.”
The soldier brought him safely back onto the ledge and let him go.
Seymour put a hand on Jays gun and helped him lower it, he whispered into
Jays ear. “No-one would be less sorry than me to see all these Hymenoptera
dead, but lets hear them out first. They seem to like you.” He nodded
towards Evil Jay.
“Like me? He’s nothing like me!” Jay snapped back.
“Problem gentlemen?” Evil Jay walked back.
Jay scowled.
“We were just wondering what this room was for?”
Evil Jay motioned his head as if he was listening to someone talking to him,
but the others heard nothing. This is the main chamber, where the
hymenoptera create their transport to expand. They need a lot of food and
protein for their empire, and so they must travel far to forage. All of
their ships are created from organic materials, so they sometimes travel to
uninhabited planets where they break down things like trees and plants into
basic proteins, and use it to create ships, food, breed larger soldiers -for
defence of course! There are many cultures who would love to steal all this
so an army is needed.”
Whitewolf whispered to Niples. “I swear those ships aren’t transport ships,
they are the same Hymenoptera fighters we saw them constructing on New
Ibiza.”
“And that looks like part of a much larger ship….” Seymour pointed. “Like
one of the type that destroyed Efof’s home planet 1000 years ago….”
“Creepy” Said Phil.
The group walked on. They seemed to be headed for a spherical shaped hive in
the centre of the large chasm, like a woven spiders nest, held in place by
long tensile threads stretching in every direction, tethering the nest
exactly in the centre of thin air.
“Ooh this is fascinating,” said a short sighted Ambassador who was at the
rear of the party. He looked down, seeing Vats of liquid. Workers looking
like praying mantus’ were fishing very unusual looking soldiers out of the
vats, almost as if they were artificial breeding tubes.
“Wait till the guys at my fondu and scone meetings hear about this!!” he
exclaimed, then suddenly realised he was alone.
Suddenly he was grabbed from behind by some sharp pincers that dragged him
off the ledge, and as the hymenoptera seem to be able to cling anywhere, was
dragged under the ledge. The weak man struggled a little bit, making the
soldier grip tighter.
In fact it gripped so tight that the mouth pincers sliced the mans neck and
his head rolled backwards and down into the chasm.
Apparently the human brain can still work a few seconds after being cut off
from a blood supply. The ambassador felt himself fall into one of the huge
bubbling vats where the acid started dissolving away at his skin, his DNA
being added to the strange soup…………
