Wrong door.

"Nice" said Jay "but doesn't something have to BE radioactive for a
radiation detector to track it?!"
"Well yeah...obviously.."
"Just so were clear" said Jay
"Why?" asked McJohn "Whats wrong?"
"Nothing" said Jay "Just the wormhole drive isn't radioactive"
"Then what powers it?!"
"Standard 3-pin adaptor plug...."
<end snip>
"Well that's brilliant," McJohn said testily as he bent down to pick
up the metal picnic cooler his engineering tools were inside. "Now
what?"
"I dunno," said Jay, "we keep looking I suppose."
"Brillant."
"Don't talk to a smeggin' officer that way --"
"Look, stop it, both of you." Phil interrupted. "I have an idea."
"What is it?" asked Jay.
"Both of you shut up, and then we check the end of this corridor."
"Brilliant," said McJohn, who actually meant it this time, sorta.
They hadn't progressed more than a yard before a pirate jumped out in
front of them. McJohn drew his revolver with his left hand and fired
twice in a split second. The pirate fell to the deck.
"How the smeg did you learn to do that?" asked Jay.
"Too many hours in A/R western games. Come on."
They edged down the dark corridor until they came to a T junction.
McJohn glanced over at Jay. "Now which way do we go?"
"Umm...left," he replied.
They followed the corridor until they found a large metal door.
McJohn set down the metal cooler and retrieved his Tommy Gun from it.
He motioned to the others to keep back from the door. Phil looked at
him quizically.
"Look," he said as McJohn opened the door with his free hand, "I've
got a blaster, that's better than your antique there, so why don't
you let me handle this one?"
"Relax," McJohn retorted, "I can handle this."
At that moment, he swung open the door, and saw he was looking at a
room full of heavily armed pirates. They all turned to face him. The
sound of weapons being readied filled the air.
"Never mind, I can't handle it!" McJohn shouted, slamming the door
shut and shoving the cooler in front of it. "Get back!"
The three Blue Dwarf crewmen jumped back and trained their weapons on
the door as the first of the pirates forced through the ad hoc
barricade.
"OPEN FIRE!" yelled Jay, Phil and McJohn at the same time. Jay was
giving an order, Phil was starting to enjoy being right about this,
and McJohn had always wanted to say it anyway.
