Settling in...

The automatic door opened with a whoosh of processed air. As the young man stepped through he immediately noticed the corridors were somewhat...worn. It all seemed less exciting than he had hoped, but then again it was only just starting. Adventures always started with a ragged ship and an even more ragged crew.

Jon shouldered his bag and walked along looking for the Quartermaster, or whatever they called the person that assigned rooms and handled supplies. Before too long he found himself walking into a small, rather cramped office.

"Eh, I'm Walter, how can I help you," said a middle-aged man with a slight paunch, "let me guess, you're new."

"True, the name's Jon Ryan and I am the new security officer. I was just transferred from the Los Angeles police department on Earth."

"Right, right, well I've got plenty of spare rooms aboard this..." the Walter trailed off as he noticed Ryan was murmuring to himself, "eh, what's that you said?"

"What's what," Jon asked confused, "I never said anything."

"Really, could've swore you were sayin' something, whatever, as I was saying..."

"...Jon know his life would never be the same. His journey was about to begin."
"There it is again," the supplyman said, "you were talking in that weird voice again."

Jon shook his head in confusion at the strange man. "I never said anything, I've just been waiting to see where my room assignment will be. If you don't mind I am in kind of a hurry," he said while wondering about the sanity of his fellow crewmates. Maybe it's something about living in space, he wondered mentally.

"Sure, right, yeah," the suddenly worried man said, "your room is on floor eighteen, sector d, number 223."

Jon nodded his thanks to the man before turning to leave and continuing his voice over, "Our brave hero embarked on his quest to find the room. He knew it would not be easy but somehow he would make a home among the strange crew, as only a true hero could do."

Walter only shook his head and got back to work, he knew this ship well enough to see that young american would fit in just fine._________________________________________________________________"Dance with me death, for I am ready."
