Holly...THE DOORS HOLLY

Yet another JP by the dynamic Duo, SMAndy and Chris
Jack sat up on the edge of his bed, and looked to where his stuff would
usually be, all over the floor. "oh yeah." he said, looking on all the
shelves, neatly stacked. "so seymours changes weren't ALL bad..." he said.
Then turned to Melissa. "umm, do you wanna give me a hand moving my stuff?"
he asked, picking up his clothes and getting dressed.
"Err yeah sure" she smiled at the frilly duvets, "Is your roomate gay or
something?"
"no, he's cool, that, " he said, pointing to the frills. "was the work of
Seymour, we think he may be..."
She laughed and raised herself from the bed and moved towards the bathroom.
She hada shower, got dressed, and then proceeded to help Jack move his
stuff.
When it was all done, boxes littered the floor of Melissa's spare room.
Jack sat on a box. "wow, i didn't know i had that much stuff." he said.
--meanwhile, in cargobay 23---
"Yo, holly." Severn said. Holly appeared on the screen.
"hey dude!" he said.
"wheres Jack, i haven't seen him down here for days." Severn asked.
"well, he just asked me to transfer him to another room, he now lives with a
woman named Melissa Harris." Holly said.
"ahh, in that case... when he gets to that room, lock the door, and don't
open it till i say so." he said, pushing a button on his control panel,
blocking the nano communications between Jack and everyone else.
Melissa threw the last box down on the bed, "How much stuff do you
have!?!?!" she chuckled to herself.
"umm, about that much, i'd say" he said, pointing at the boxes piled up in
the corner. "thanks for the hand, would of taken twice as long otherwise."
he said, smiling, and getting a coffee from the machine. "you want one?" he
asked.
"But of course" she said, "Hey,after this, do you fancy heading out for
lunch?"
"definetely, i'm starving!" he said, grabbing the 2 cups, and giving melissa
one. He sat down next to her.
She held her cup in one hand, and gracefully placed the other, on Jacks
hand, sitting on his leg.
Jack put his cup down on the table next to him, and leant back in the sofa,
turning his hand over and holding onto hers.
They sat there for what seemed forever, until Melissa finally suggested that
they should go and get some lunch, which they would have done, until they
walked over to the door.
"what the?" Jack said, pressing the manual door release button... nothing
happened. He reached into his pocket, and tried his Security override key,
but nothing. "holly! whats up with the door?" He asked.
"sorry Jack, door motors have burned out on this deck, power surge." holly
said, before disappearing again.
"Not much we can do then unless...the nanos!" he said, he then subvocalised,
"Chris, can you come and hack a door down please?"
"Chris?" he said again... nothing but Static returned. "Severn? John?
Amber?" he tried everyone... but static on all frequencies. "hmm, looks
like we're stuck until they can fix it." he said.
"if only i had my sword with me..." he said, thinking about it still lying
on the floor of his old room.
"Well, theres no point just standing here, watcha wanna do?" said Melissa.
"all we can do is wait." he said, sitting back down on the sofa. He
positioned himself on one side, with his arm over the back next to him.
"say, why did you join the JMC anyway?" Jack asked, wondering why he hadn't
asked her before.
"I was lonely back at home, by myself..." she heaved a great sigh and sat
down beside Jack.
As she sat down, he let his arm move from the back of the sofa, onto her
shoulder. "really?" he said. "I joined because i wanted to see more, I
used to be a bit of an explorer." he said, thinking back to his time on
earth, travelling everywhere.
"you know, i can't see someone like you ever being lonely" he added.
She smiled and put her head on his shoulder, "not anymore at least" she
said.
"well, it seems the JMC has done something to both of us... i haven't felt
like exploring in about a year..." he said, images of the incident that
meant Phoenix Fire had to be used flashed through his mind.
"What happened to you?"
"umm... i died..." he said, letting his arm slide down to her waist.
"But you're not a hologram"
"no, i used to have a secret Lab, one of my inventions brought me back
before anyone knew i was dead. I thought no one would be able to figure it
out, but Severn did, That things been used twice now, it was only designed
for one.
"It was used a second time?" She asked, intrigued
"yeah, They managed to bring Chris back to life with it." he said. "oh
smeg." he said, thinking about what he'd just said.
"You what?"
"don't tell anyone that!" he said, "no one can know, umm... it wasn't really
allowed.." he said, mentally kicking himself.
"Dads alive?!?!?!?" she almost shouted.
"shh! keep it down," Jack said, quietly. "you can't let anyone else know!"
She rolled over, her arms wrapping themselves so tightly around Jack that it
could have suffocated him, but he just sat there perfectly normally,
stroking her head gently.
"Ok, soooo, watcha wanna do?"
"i don't mind, i'm quite happy sitting here." he said, kissing her head.
"umm... just a thought, whens your birthday?" said Jack, thinking ahead in
his social life for once.
"It's tomorrow" said Melissa
"tomorrow?!?! that doesn't give me much time..." Jack said, a little
worried.
"Hehe" she laughed, "Don't worry, i've got the best present i could ever get
from you....a future"
"no, i insist, i have to buy you something." he said... thinking.
"something to show that future at least." he added.
"Honey, really, you don't have to!"
"yes i do, i will get something." he said, trying to think...
Jack looked around the room, a picture of a cat sat on a shelf, in a fancy
frame. "ahh, bingo." he thought, noticing the lack of anything round
Melissa's neck.
"Whatcha looking at?" she said, noticing Jack looking in the direction of
the picture.
"i was just thinking..." he said, "i wasn't really looking at anything."
"Hmmm, yeah i bet" she said.
"hehe, is that a picture of your cat?" he asked, motioning in the direction
of the photo.
"Dads, I was looking after it for him, It's in his quarters"
"ahh." he said. "hold on... doesn't he know animals aren't allowed
onboard?" Jack said, letting his security instincts kick in momentarily.
"He is, he's got a special forcefield that has to be deactivated for any
animal to get in and out" she said.
"It's perfectly safe in there"
"ahh, thats ok then. sorry, i've been working here too long..." Jack
admitted, thinking back to when he joined the crew.
"Heheh, he wouldn't be very happy if you took Mr. Bigglesworth away"
"he named him Mr Bigglesworth?" Jack said, slightly shocked. "poor cat..."
"Nah, this cat was given to him by a doctor...."
"ok, thats not SO bad i spose..." Jack said, lying back a bit more.
"you know, i'm really getting hungry now... you wanna try the door again?"
Jack said, his stomach rumbling.
"Yeah, ok" Melissa agreed, They got up, and wandered to the door, Jack hit
the Manual release button.
The door edged open a little, just enough for Jack to get his hands in and
force it enough to get out.
Jack and Melissa climbed through the gap, out into the corridor, "shall we?"
Jack said, as they wandered off to the lunar station to get some lunch.
