The Destroyer Comes In, Firing (long post)

<SNIP>
<END SNIP>
Seymour ran up to the Demon Destroyer and called out "Wait for me! I
don't want to miss out on any of this action, dudes! I like a bit of
a rought time." Seymour said, trying to sound heroic and macho.
"Sure, come on in!" called out Eric, as he hadn't been introduced to
Seymour yet, before Johnny had the chance to lock the doors on him.
Seymour jumped in the ship and sat in the trooop/cargo area and
called out to the pilot and gunner "Hey, what's this?"
"Oh, don't worry about that - it's just a little surprise for the
enemy." Johnny replied.
"Well, I think it's really cool."
"That's quite a compliment, coming from you, Mr Niples."
"Oh, just Seymour will do," he replied, not noticing the sarcasm.
"Doors are locked, captain." the Jamaican computer said to Johnny.
"Okay, let's go." Johnny said as he powered up the engines and
started to take off out the harngar.
"Later Hol." Eric said, and Holly appeared on Tim's screen and
farewelled them, still amazed at the way Eric was able to organise
the aremoury department, let alone anything at all on the ship.
* * * * * *
It was a short flight to the edge of the atmosphere of the planet.
"Okay, we're gonna lose Tim and other computer stuff for a while,
due to the massive electrical disturbance here, so hang tight."
Johnny announced.
"No problem, man." Tim replied.
After half a minute, they had passed the field and were in the upper
atmosphere of the planet.
"I think we're a little lost, guys" Johnny said, as he couldn't
recognise the part of the planet underneath them.
"Okay, I've got not very many lifeforce readings around here, but
there's some in the eastern quadrant of the planet." Eric said,
looking at his console.
"Well, that must be the guys, on account of the zombies being dead
and devoid of all signs of life." Johnny mused.
"Well, let's boogie on ever there and start a little party!" Seymour
shouted with excitement.
Ten minutes later, they spotted a large group of zombies.
"They may be able to put themselves back together, but it'll be a
little difficult for them if they're scattered in a trillion
pieces!" Eric smiled almost evilly as he powered up the weapons
systems.
Using some fairly powerful lasers, they cut arms, legs and other
appendages off the zombies and burned lot's of holes in them, but
they were still moving about.
"Okay, let's use some explosives!" Johnny was happy at the thought.
With that, Eric fired some missiles at the zombies, who were waving
their arms about at the craft circling overhead and trying to throw
other zombies at the ship.
The missiles exploded right in the middle of a large group of
zombies, who suddenly found theselves being spread over a radius of
three miles.
"Well, that's most of them, I think we'd better rendevous with the
others." said Johnny, as he piloted the craft in that direction.
"Hey fellas, maybe you think I should contact the guys for you?"
asked Tim, the craft's computer.
"See who you can get."
After twenty seconds, Tim reappeared on screen. "I think they must
all be busy then, cos I cannot reach anyone. Sorry fellas."
The craft was soon screaming over the area where the Starbug was
located.
"Damn, they're surrounded!" Eric shouted. "We can't safely get them
with the missiles!"
"I like the odds!" Seymour called out. "The more the merrier, I say!"
"Well, just carefully fire the lasers for now, that'll help, and
I'll try to draw them away from the team!" Johnny replied, ignoring
Seymour's comment.
Soon, about a third of the zombies were going after the new threat,
but once they were far enough away from the group, Eric fired two
missiles into the center of the group. The starbug still rattled in
the force of the explosion, but no flying parts of zombies hit any
crewmembers.
However, the Demon Destroyer was too close, and with the force of
the explosion and large parts of zombies and rocks hitting the
craft, a few sirens started to wail.
"Oh crap, we've taken some damage!" Johnny cried out, distraught.
"I thought this think was nearly impervious!" Eric shouted back,
over the loud klaxxons.
"Nearly is the point - it must have hit a weak spot."
"Damage report, J man." Tim came up on screen. "One more hit in the
right spot, and we're done for."
Johnny started to climb to get away from the zombies. "That's it,
we're too damaged to continue. I'm returning to the Dwarf."
"No you will not, young man!" Seymour called out from the troop and
cargo bay. "We are needed down there to take out more zombies until
we can get the GELF!" At which point Seymour clamped his hand over
his mouth.
"What GELF?" Johnny enquired.
"Never mind about that, dudes, we gotta war to fight, that's all you
need to know."
Johnny and Eric gulped at the thought of an unknown entity being
involved.
Tim came back on screen. "Yeah, I checked into Holly's files, and he
said that this GELF controlls all the zombies, so all we need to do
is kill it."
"Oh, that doesn't sound so bad." Eric said.
Johnny started another attack run when something hit the ship with a
loud band.
"What the smeg was that?" Eric yelled.
"I don't know, but we're losing power, we're gonna crash!" Johnny
replied with tears in his eyes at the thought of losing his ship.
"We'll I think it's time to use the surprise we've got." said Eric
"But maybe I can try to land her and save the ship." replied Johnny
"Don't be daft man," Tim appeared back on screen. "We're too hig up,
and we're gonna gain to much speed as we fall. It's not like we have
an ocean nearby or anything to try the Chrysler Manouvre."
"Okay then Tim. I've got to get a backup of you so I don't lose you
with the ship." Johnny said as he put a disc into a slot in his
console.
After that, Eric went into the troop bay to ready their exit, as
Johnny kept the craft stable and opened the bay doors.
"I've slowed her down a bit," Eric said as he left his seat,
grabbing the two briefcases on his way, "I think it's best we jumped
ship now."
Just before the craft hit the ground, a roar could be heard in the
bay as Eric revver his engine and then his modified Austin Healy
sped out of the door, landing on the ground with a little thud and
sped away from the craft which had by then hit the ground and was
sliding along the ground very quickly, with bits coming off along
the way.
"I'm glad I modified the suspension on this, or that would have hurt
the backs." muttered Eric, as he concentrated on driving very fast,
while Seymour was 'Yee-ha'ing like a cowboy and making other similar
excited noises.
Johnny looked back at his wrecked craft, which was still moving
along the ground, and then faced the front again, a mad glint in his
eyes, as the zombies appeared in their sight again.
Eric pressed a couple of buttons, while Johnny, in the passenger
seat, took a large mouthful of whiskey and Seymour, in the back,
suddenly rose above the two in the front, with a mounted rocket
launcher appearing in fron of him.
Also, a couple of laser guns appeared in the bonnet of the car and a
side mounted Extra Heavy Bazookoid appeared for Johnny's use and the
panels of the car flipped over, revealing shining tritanium armour
underneath.
"It's killing time." muttered Johnny, darkly with a grim
smile. "Killing time again.
