To the End.

who: kanako & Melissa
where: hell knows...
when: about now (surprised about that one, weren't you?)
A JP by Chris and SMAndy, who by the way is back to his old self. WOOHOO!
"you think they know where we are?" Kanako asked, looking at the dull
celing above them, lying on a steel bed.
"i dunno.. all i know is if they don't get us out, there won't be much
point in trying..." Melissa replied, sighing.
A siren wailed as a large explosion shook the place in which they were
being held. Dust fell from the ceiling as a second explosion followed
not soon after.
"Are we safe here?" said Kanako anxiously.
Another explosion rattled the building.
"I wouldnt hazard a guess on that one" replied Melissa nervously.
"i think they've found us..." Kanako said, sitting up, dust falling
into her hair. "damn aliens" she said, brushing it out. An explosion
shook the room violently, knocking Kanako off of the bed, while the
bars of their cell bent horribly under the stress, creating a space
large enough for them to get out.
"C'mon, lets go while we still have a chance!" said Melissa, gesturing
toward the hole in the bars.
"You dont have to tell me twice" said Kanako, making her was towards
the hole in the bars.
kanako jumped through the hole, and ran to the stairs. "how nice of
them to make a way out for us" she said, looking up the long
staircase. "After you" she said.
Melissa jumped through the hole, and ran towards the staris, taking
two at a time. They were needed somewhere, she could feel it. When
they reached the top of the stairs, there was a fork in what could be
described as nothing other than a path. Shattered glass and pieces of
scrap wood littered the floor of both. They chose the left fork and
continued down it, towards what could be anything. A pit with a lion
in, or a room full of snakes, or a never ending chasm could be what
awaited them at the end of this path. For all they knew, one or both
of them may not get out of this place, wherever it was, alive.
They ran for what seemed like eternity, the whole place shook as they
ran, nearly knocking them from their feet several times, A green and
black being appeared through the wall in front of them, and
disappeared again through the opposite wall, ignoring them completely.
"what the smeg was that?" Kanako asked, bemused by the sudden
appearance of a single alien in such a vast complex.
"One of the aliens" replied Melissa in a very weak voice. "Is it just
me, or is the chance that we're gonna get out of this alive gradually
reducing?". They continued walking down the pathway as another alien
walked in and out of the wall. They eventually came to a point where
the two paths met and they took the left hand turning again, and a
light became ever brighter as they walked down what had now changed
into what we would now refer to as a corridor.
The corridor was a pure white, no ending could be seen for miles down
it, as it curved round to follow the shape of the planetoid it was
built inside. The pure whiteness making it difficult to even tell
which was floor, and which was wall...
"what now?" kanako asked. "I can't even see an ending to this" she
said, slouching against the wall, and sliding down to the floor. "we
should've stayed back there, at least then they might have found us"
she said, holding her head in her hands. "where are you Chris?" she
said quietly, a tear appearing in her eye.
"Hey, they'll be here shortly, my dad and your brother cant be stopped
by anything" she said with a faint smile on her face, knowing how
badly she had just lied. The truth was that, they could be stopped by
these aliens, and she knew it. They both knew it, but they didn't want
to come to terms with it. While they were moping about what to do,
un-noticed by them, a green and black alien appeared out of the wall.
About to re-enter the wall, it stopped before it reached it, noticing
something out of the corner or its eye, an unmasked odour also
reaching its nose. It turned to see them properly, it stepped a little
closer, and seeing tears trickling down the face of a short black
haired female of what it could only call a humanoid species, it almost
felt a sense of pity. But then it realised what it had to do. They
were not invited here, and they did not belong here, they had to be
eliminated. The alien, still un-noticed by Melissa and Kanako picked
up a large steel scimitar that was laying on the floor not too far
away from it. A smile etched across its face as it moved in for the kill.
The alien moved in, and raised the scimitar above its head. Why it
didn't just shoot them no one will ever know... Kanako looked up at
the right time, and screamed. melissa jumped to the side just enough
for it to only catch her arm and side, cutting through it with ease,
her arm falling limp at her side. But the blade fell on Kanako... sat
on the floor, unable to move in time, it cut through her...
"NOOOOOO!!!!!" Chris yelled, as he leapt at the alien, his Gunblade
held high. Giving a short blast of electricity from the tesla cannon,
Jack rooted it to this plane of existence. The gunblade making short
work of the alien, Chris dropped it, and fell to his knees at Kanako's
side, while Jack hugged Melissa, tears cascading down his face.
"ITS HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN!" yelled Chris, "WHAT DOES LUCK HAVE AGAINST
ME?!". He stopped his shouting and screaming and kissed kanako's
forehead, before closing her eyes, which surprisingly sprang open again.
"I'm still alive Chris" She whispered. Chris eyes wore a hesitant
expression, petrified of knowing that although she maybe alive now,
there was a slim chance she would be alive later. The scimitar had
buried deep into her spinal column, no doubt leaving her paralysed
until she could be fixed by doctors, though the likelyhood being that
she wouldn't be alive long enough to reach the medi-bay and doctor
keto, with his various range of ointments. Chris lifted her from the
ground in silence and walked her slowly down the corridor, tears still
cascading from his face, they couldnt seem to stop.
"'Lissa?" he managed to say as they finally reached the outside of the
establishment. "Stay with Kanako and send for help" he said, passing
his radio to her. "Jack and I have some unfinished business to attend
to" he said, a cold fire rising in the depth of his eyes. He turned
away before uttering quietly, "I love you both dearly". He walked back
towards the entrance, a cold wind blowing the end of the cloak that he
had treasured and worn since his own father's death. He turned to
Jack, who was still standing beside him. "To the end?" he said in a
determined voice, waiting for a response from Jack.
"To the end." he said, raising the tesla cannon, no smile on his face
this time though. just tears down his cheeks, and a look of pure
hatred in his eyes.
"they'll pay" he added as they began to run off as fast as their legs
would carry them, towards the centre of the planetoid.
Melissa carried Kanako as best she could, back to the landing point,
and called for a quick pickup.
"They will pay alright" said Chris. "I will not rest until every last
one of these fiends are dead, and I dont care what it takes". Chris
and Jack exchanged a glance that told them what they needed to know,
and once more together, they recited "To the end".
