Niples "A days work for an Ambassador"

Who: Seymour Niples
Where: In space, in a Starbug
When: After the Aeron/Eniram homeworld was destroyed
Seymour sat in a Starbug with a small fleet of Aerons to his port,
and a small fleet of Eniram to his right.
Hi bit his nails nervously. The problem with this situation is that
the Aerons and Eniram had been bitter enemies for hundreds of years,
and had their guns ready and charged at each other. Seymour was
stuck straight in the middle.
"Listen! I order you both to back down… I know you're not on the
best of terms…" Seymour said through one comm channel.
"The Eniram have infested our oceans for many decades!" Shouted an
Aeron over the channel.
"The Aerons have bombarded us from the air for years, trying to
drive us from our homes!" came the slimy reply from the fishy Eniram.
"Only in retaliation for you plaguing our seas!"
Seymour sighed. "Gentlemen, you've been at war for hundreds of
years… so, you have something in common."
"We have nothing in common with our enemy!" Shouted the Aeron from
the lead ship. Seymour looked outside his shuttle and could see the
weapons were about to go off at any moment.
"Just calm down! The Hymenoptera have destroyed your world, so
there's no point in squabbling about land… or sea anymore!"
This kept both sides quiet for a while, and all ships hung in space
awkwardly. Everyone was waiting for Seymour to speak next.
"The Hymenoptera are about to attack Earth-"
He paused as he thought he heard someone hiss.
"Why should we care?" Gurgled an Eniram.
"What have Earth ever done for us?" Said the Captain of the Aeron
lead ship.
"Erm… well… be quiet and let me speak! We need your help."
There was a pause before an Aeron spoke, he spoke with a strong
bellowing voice, and seemed to flap his wings as he did. "Why should
we help you? You did nothing as our homeworld was destroyed!"
"That's not true…" Said Seymour, not really knowing where to take
this, as he knew perfectly well that the Space Corps fleet didn't
lift a finger to help them.
"They were just…. Preoccupied."
"Get your ship out of the firing line puny human!" Shouted an Eniram
over the comm. "With our home gone we want to die, destroying our
enemy for good!"
"No! Don't you see? If you want to go out fighting, why not do it
for a good cause, team up and fight the bigger enemy, the
Hymenoptera."
"You mean you want us to die with honour, killing the enemy that
destroyed our planet?"
"Yes."
"You mean you want us to die fighting for you?" Said an Aeron.
"Yes."
"You mean we should give our lives, just so you don't have to?"
"Yes!"
There was a pause.
"It does make sense." Said a bemused Aeron. "We were fighting with
the Eniram for years and it was a constant stale mate."
"And it wasn't the Aerons who destroyed our home, it was the
Hymenoptera." Said a fishy Eniram, through a gilled throat.
"Agreed!" Said an Aeron, and flapped his feathered wings in delight
of the a new enemy.
Merely hours later, the Eniram were shaking slimy hands with the
Aerons, and excitedly discussing how they were going to obliterate
their shared enemy. Seymour stood back and grinned.
This is what he liked most about being an Ambassador, letting people
reach their true potential. Both the Aerons and Eniram had so much
in common, and it was great to see them now get on so well and plot
the merciless and bloody destruction of a galactic superpower. It
pleased him and sent a cold shudder down his spine at the same time.
