What trick?

It did make Artem wonder a bit exactly what she had against people from Dalen in general, but decided not to ask. “Well, I like living like this and someday, when or if I ever get tired of this, then I’ll have enough money to buy some land, a big house and live life just as the nobles” he said with a grin. At least that was his plan, though so far, he only had a few coins that hadn’t been spend on food, booze or his horse yet.

Before he had any time to say anything more or answer her question about how he felt about using portals, the innkeeper appeared at their table, rightfully insulted by Miss Conwoods comment on the meal. Artem just stayed out of the two women’s argument, knowing that no good would come of trying to interfere. What surprised him was that it actually annoyed him to hear Miss Conwood talk about humans in the way she did.

When things then started to turn hostile, Artem couldn’t just sit and watch anymore. “Excuse me ladies, but let’s not start threatening each other, all right?” he looked at both of them with a calm and disarming smile. He then turned towards the innkeeper “What do you mean about a parlor trick? We did pay for our room and we’ll also pay for this lovely breakfast. No tricks or anything, right?”. He had no idea of what they were talking about, but he wasn’t interested in having to pay extra just because of some suspicious innkeeper, even though it wasn’t him who had to pay.
