The new deal

Gareth stopped when Sabina did, though his mind was still circling what Ceriden had just said. He almost smiled by thought of it, but contained himself. “So, you want me to eat bad people? Sounds good to me. I like that plan and would be happy to help you.” he replied. This really would be the perfect solution to all his problems. To have someone who could help him and be allowed to feed on all the bad people that had been mistreating himself and others. It couldn’t be better.

Sabina let out a sigh “I know this is going to be a bit difficult, but we need to find someone else for the spell.”. “This spy” she said while pointing at him “just doesn’t look right. So, we need to get rid of this guy and find another one, allright?”. She the continued, looking only at Ceriden “Furthermore, I would like if we could change our deal slightly. I’m afraid of what might happen if I return home without this book, so I would like to hear if there were something else I could offer you instead?”.

Only after having told them about her change of mind she noticed how Gareths eyes were fixed upon the unconscious spy, full of anticipation. This was the drop that made the cup run over. “Don’t even think about it!” he voice was filled with disgust and anger “This is actually all your fault. You have caused nothing but trouble from the moment I bought you. I don’t want you anymore. Please just leave.”.

Gareth, who almost hadn’t thought of what he’d done, quickly looked up at her, surprised by this sudden outburst and almost out of reflex took a few steps back. It was strange, but no matter how many times he was being talked to like that it still hurt. Confused and unsure of what to do he looked back and forth between Sabina and Ceriden a couple of times, before letting his eyes settle on Ceriden, hoping that he would be able to at least give him some kind of clue of what to do now.
