Seeing Things

Jorrik blinked not realising for a moment that Miles was speaking to him and then flushed with embarrassment.

"I erm... I see things. Kind of like Runes... around people."

Miles did not seem overly concerned by the admission so he continued. Encouraged by the other mans silence.

"They have always been there and honestly I do not know what they mean. They are always fragmented and... well I dont know. Around you for example I see little until you do something like you did back there at the cave in, then all of a sudden the air about you lit up like a winter festival. It makes no sense but there it is. I did not see them for years and then this lot" he indicated the other members of the group, "They turn up and well." he raised his hands in despair.

Majvoc had been silence since the advice of the old fool and kept glaring at the man as they walked, half wanting to press for more and half afraid of inviting more riddles from the man. He hated riddles. At last he spoke,

"If your words were true old man then every ancient fool would be juggling fire balls and summoning demons, and as for believing in yourself." he laughed bitterly, "I have plenty of that and all it earns me is fear and mistrust."

As they walked on it began to get lighter in the tunnel. Sunlight filtering in from a distant opening perhaps. Majvoc quickened his pace eager to find the source and turning a sharp bend to the right he came to the opening.

He was forced to shade his eyes from the brilliant white light that assailed him and he shivered from the cold. They truly had passed beneath the mountains and were now far to the north with a gentle slope leading away from the cave entrance down towards a wide valley knee deep in crisp white snow.
