Infernal Conception

The crones face split into a wide toothless grin as Luna stepped forward to take the bird, but before the exchange could be made Dyvia stepped forward and scooped it into her hands.

"Ha! Unexpected." The crone screeched with delight and surprise. "Pity elfling, motherhood would have taught you much about the world."

And with that the crone vanished fading into dust and smoke. The crow screamed out as it's keeper disappeared and plunged its beak deep into the dwarfs arm drawing blood.

Dyvia cried out in pain but not from the wound. Her abdomen was suddenly afire. She fell to her knees clutching her stomach, the bird falling from her hand a lifeless grey carcass.

As Dyvia finally dragged herself to her feet they heard the soft cackle of the crone on the wind.
