One Lonely Beasty I Be

Upon awakening, a knight in big fancy armor finds himself in the middle of a forest. He confused as to how he got there and his head is pounding from a big headache. He grumbles as he mutters, "What's going on? Where am I? Why do I feel like I have been binge drinking all night?" Then he struggled to get up and look around. It was a bit awkward to move around in his armor till he regained his balance and leaned on a tree. His helmet obstructed his view a bit so he pulled his visor up to get a better view of his surroundings. As he looked around he noticed he was alone and no one was nearby. Then his parched throat began to bother him so he listened to see if he was near animals and water. off in the distance he heard the sound of flowing water and began to follow it. Eventually he arrived at the river he had heard earlier and knelt by a small pool that was fed by the river. The water was slowly moving in the pool so he could safely use his armored hands to scoop up the water and wash his face as she tried to get some into his mouth. Sadly most of the water leaked out through his gauntlets before he could drink it so he removed his helmet began drinking from the pool of water to quench his parched throat. The water felt clean and cold as he felt it go down his mouth. Then he leaned up and looked at the pool of water.

Seeing his reflection in a river, he is shocked to discover that his appearance is that of a skeleton. He moved the water to see if he was mistaken and eventually his reflection showed up again to reveal he was still a skeleton in armor. To make sure this was real he removed his metal gauntlets and touched his face to confirm he was indeed a skeleton. His hands and head were all bone and no skin. He was confused by how he was still alive in this state and even more confused by his thirst for water. Then his stomach grumbled which was even more confusing since he didn't have a stomach. Realizing he was in a bad situation he checked his body for damage and materials available. He found he was wearing big fancy armor that felt very familiar as well as his Paladin Holy Sword of Caladbolg. He chuckled as he was familiar with his armor and sword but his memory was very foggy.

As he rattled his brain he remembered being called Sir Arc a few times from strange voices, but he could not recall any faces. Among his other belongings he had a bag with a survival kit inside including a flask, flint and steel striker set, hunting knife, fishing line with a hook and iron rations. Since he was hungry he ate one of the iron rations and made a yuk face as the flavor was horrible yet very familiar. He wanted to spit it out and get something else but seeing as in the middle of nowhere he little choice but to eat what he could to calm his upset stomach that seem to exist despite his eyes seeing nothing but bones.

Now in unfamiliar territory, the armored skeleton decided that it would be best to hide his appearance by never removing his helmet and to search for inhabitants. It freaked him out to see his own face so he could imagine that others would panic at the sight of a talking skeleton. So after putting on his gauntlets and helmet he lowered his visor and began following the river in hopes of finding anyone who could give him information or directions to get any information. The walk was long and somewhat boring so he began to hum a silly tune in his head that he seem to know for some odd reason.

Song

The song was somewhat silly and it put the skeleton in a chipper mood as she muttered the song to himself to pass the time. Then he was interrupted during his song by loud noises and screams ahead. So the skeleton knight pulled out his large sword in case of danger and snuck towards the loud noises. As he got closer he found himself spying on a band of bandits attacking a group at a distance and seeing they're about to capture two women after taking down their guards. This didn't set well with the skeleton knight seeing the bandits attacking women before him so he he sprang into action and told the bandits to stand down and surrender. The bandits of course were not going to give up their prize that they rightfully stole so they attacked the knight and bragged about selling his fancy armor once they killed him. However there was a large difference in the skill of the bandits and the knight as they were slain rather quickly by the large sword of the skeleton knight. Once the battle was over the skeleton knight cleaned off the blood off his sword and greeted the two women.

Arc: Good day ladies. I apologize for this awkward greeting. Could you by chance aid me in directions to the next town or city? I am a bit lost.

The two women were a bit scared and confused but glad to be saved. One woman was dressed as a maid and the other seemed to be a woman from either a wealthy family or a noble family. The maid spoke up to the skeleton knight in the other lady's place.

Maid: And who might you be sir knight?

Arc: Ah my apologies (bows) My name is Arc. I woke up in these woods and my memory seems to be hazy. I am not sure if this was a prank or something much worse. I am looking for aid in discovering my answers and by chance I was led to you all good people.

Maid: Ah well as you can see we were attacked while on our way to the next city over called Vunderhan. We are in the country called Austarlunde, which is part of Winterlunde. May we see your face good knight?

Arc: Hummmmmmm....... Oh sorry my visor and helmet is stuck I'll need to see a blacksmith to get it fixed. Strange thought I never heard of that name before. Can you give me directions to there?

The maid and the wealthy woman talked in private a bit then the maid looked at Arc and replied.

Maid: My lady has an offer for thee good knight. She is willing to pay you to escort us to Vunderhan. There you can seek out your answers and not be concerned about your funds for a while.

Arc scratched his helmet as he thought about it for a bit then shrugged as he replied.

Arc: Really that would be a big help. I didn't even think about needing money for daily expenses.

The wealthy woman chuckled at Arc but covered her mouth to hide it as the maid looked at her with concern. So Arc checked the carriage for damage and removed the logs blocking its path so the two women could enter it. Then he moved the bodies of the bandits and guards to the side and looted them of their weapons and supplies since they would not be needing them anymore. He put the extra money he found in a pouch he found and wrapped the loot in a blanket and put it on the carriage for later. Then he got directions from the maid on what path to take before he got on the front of the wagon and picked up the reigns to get the horses moving. The journey was long and boring as Arc hummed to himself as the two women talked and slept in the carriage. Arc wondered how much they planned to pay him for the escort duty, but wasn't to concerned since he managed to collect a decent bags of coins between all the dead bandits and guards as well as some jewelry, weapons and supplies. Eventually they arrived at the gates of the city and the guards came to inspect the carriage.

The women introduce themselves as Laulel du Luvurte, the Viscount's daughter, and Lita Barren, her maid. Arc introduces himself as Arc to the guards and the maid Lita explains how they were attacked and rescued by Sir Arc. Not soon after another guard joins Arc and takes the reigns to escort them to the mansion of the Viscount. Their they wait in the entrance as the Viscount presents a bag of coins and a copper passport from which will allow him easier passage through any city in the territory. Arc is pleased by this as he thanks the Viscount and takes his leave with the guard back to the city.

Seeing as he was on his own now he sold the weapons he collected and bought some food from a stall. Then he eventually found an inn to stay in for the night. Once he was inside his room he locked the door and removed his helmet and cast a cleaning spell on himself since he didn't have access to a bath. Then he relaxed as he ate his food and wondered what he should do next. He needed to see a map to figure out where he was and he needed a job to pay for food and lodging. Maybe he would have some luck the next day if he asked around the city. He preferred to avoid any troublesome people like noblemen along the way since he was still hiding his face.
