Sunder: Recovery
Despite the girl named Octavia healing him the best she could he was still in rough shape, who ever that had been that Caspian had summoned to fight for him had been had seemed purpose made to be a ‘Sunder Slayer’, he sat up the whole night, tending to his wounds and trying to figure out the spear that had nearly killed him. Either way, tomorrow he would surrender it to The Fair Lady’s local church for study or destruction. He’d also need to replace his armor again, they would likely need to remain in this town for a few days so he could manage a fight if one found them. Though he hoped it wouldn’t. Two massive fights in almost as many days was dangerous business, especially with no sleep. But he needed to make sure that Caspian didn’t come back, he had no way of knowing how many of those stones he had on him. Other people in his order might consider him mad for trying to save the enemy with so much of his own life being sacrificed for it, but she’d been afraid and wanted escape, he didn’t really believe in the kind of ‘power’ that ensured you were where you were needed, even seeing The Mother’s powers, he believed that you made your fate, but something told him he was there to save her for a reason, whether The Fair Lady or The Mother had made it so he couldn’t be sure. Or maybe even her own divine spirit knew he was the only one that could do something about the charlatan Caspian, either way she was his duty to protect now, at least until they found her sanctuary.
The morning came quickly, and Sunder gave her a few extra hours to sleep before waking her. “We need to talk about what you want to do next,” he said, having already donned what was left of his armor.
Octavia sat cross legged on the bed, her hands in her lap looking nervous. “I-” she began but dropped her sentence on the first word.
“You need to decide,” Sunder started to help her long “Do you want me to take you to a church of The Fair Lady, or do you want me to take you somewhere else safe. Like your home before joining the church.”
“If I went home…my father would just send me back, tell me to ‘stop complaining, that I was chosen’ I can’t go home.” Octavia said.
“Then is there somewhere else you can go?” Sunder questioned.
Octavia looked down and shook her head. “No…I’ve only ever been with the church or my family. I’ve never traveled.”
Sunder took a breath. “We’ll go to the church.”
Octavia stiffened, still not sure she could fully trust an opposing force, or one she’d been told was so.
“You trusted me. Right.” Sunder said.
Octavia nodded.
“Then trust me when I say The Mother won’t harm you.” Sunder rose and held out his hand. “If you don’t like it there I’ll take you somewhere else.”
