It's About Who You Know

Tam just hugged Kent and sobbed into his chest. "Thank you..." She then looked to the others. "We need to go."

Serenity crossed her arms. " We can take my car perhaps the police will be kindenuff to give us an escort" she said agitated.

" we still need a statment" the officer said.

Tam sighed and satisfied the officer's wish for her to give a statement, punctuating it with "Okay, we're fucking done! Take us to see my brother!"

The car ride to the hospital was nerve wracking, only to be compounded by the several hours they were forced to wait while Chris was in surgery. All the while, Tam just sobbed into her hands.

"I shouldn't have left him with him. This is all my fault..." Tam said quietly.

The group eventually saw Max and Kevin enter the lobby. "We ran into your lawyer at your place, she told us you were here." Max said. "How's the kid? What's going on?"

"He's in surgery..." Tam managed to mutter between sobs.

Max frowned and took a seat. "Damn... Well look I know someone in this hospital I can talk to her and get them to give your brother the best care." He pulled out his phone and began to text. As he did he looked to Kevin. "If anyone here complains about Bonnie just say she's a therapy animal for hospice patients."

After a moment his phone began to ring and he went outside to answer it.

"Yeah, you have him in surgery at the moment... Look I know the kid's sister and she's really shaken up. If you could please... Thanks... Thanks... Just... Thanks..."

Then he went back in and sat back down. In a moment an attractive woman with brown wavy hair entered and looked to Tam.

"I'm Doctor Styles, head surgeon. I was notified..." She made an aside glance to Max for a moment "about your brother's case and looked into it personally. He's already out of surgery and is recovering."

Tam let out a sigh of relief.

"He's gonna be in intensive care for the next several days. So for the time being we're not allowing visitors" She looked to everyone in the room who was listening to her. "But I assure you, we'll do the best for him." She looked to Max again, who gave her a thankful nod.
