Sleepless Night

Tam couldn't sleep. She was still wracked with guilt and worry over Chris. She had cried some more before she finally decided to get up and wander Serenity's penthouse. A part of her wanted to go to Kent, but she didn't want to disturb him so she opted to go to the living room and tried to distract herself with TV.

That didn't work either.

The sun eventually came up and soon people were waking, yet Tam hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. She just stared at the TV as she watched whatever Netflix recommended, not really paying attention to it. She just cradled her phone in her hands, anxiously waiting for the call from the hospital about Chris.

When River stepped out she tried to be conversational. "You not sleep well?"

Max nodded and ordered some Chinese and at Kevin's second question he looked a little flushed. "Dating? No. We're just old buddies. She saved my life in Afghanistan. It was just a fluke that she ended up moving here after I did."

Yet even he had had his suspicions about that. She had always been kind and friendly, always wanted to hang out with him. They got along great, but Kevin had never actually thought about her in that way. Why, he didn't quite know the answer aside from he didn't consider himself remarkable enough for someone like Veronica to think of him that way.

"Why? You interested in her?" Max asked after a moment.
