They Run Away

River thought for a moment, recalling how warm it had been outside today. "Well, summer is right around the corner." She said with a slight smile. "Maybe we can find you something cute. I'm sure boys will swoon if they see you in a pretty dress!"

To the photographer it was always easier to help her friend find clothes and impress people. If she had to impress anyone with herself, she got uncomfortable and tried to disappear. After what happened to her, all she did was wear layers of dark clothes in an attempt to hide her shame.

So, with a smile on her face, she went with Serenity to find summer clothes. For her, that would mostly be t-shirts and jeans.

Kent chuckled at the sight of so many people being afraid of one girl, but what really got to him were the words she spoke to him.

"You're a good man, Kent..." She then proceeded to put her arm around his shoulder as the lights dimmed and the movie started.

No one had ever told him he was a good man before. All his life Kent had been told he was a worthless son, a child that should not have been born - a mistake. That was the reason for the fights and the violent actions that got him put in jail for a while, but he had decided to become the opposite of what his father said he was.

He just prayed he would be good enough for Tam. Hesitantly, he slid an arm around her and pulled her a little closer as they watched the movie.

Kevin just stared at Max, almost dropping the large bird cage. Getting his grip back on it, the blond cleared his throat and chuckled. "You're a trip, Max." He said and took the cage outside once the girl brought the truck around. Helping tie it down so it wouldn't fling itself off, he waved to the girl as she left.

Back inside, the blond scratched Bonnie's head. "There isn't a girl out there like what you say, man. Most see the scar and walk away in disgust." He explained with a shrug. "It's fine, though. I've got Bonnie and you..."

He would never admit it, but Kevin really was bothered by how most women looked at his face and ran away.
