Reason Behind The Hate

Kent nodded and watched Tam go before finally getting up and pulling on his pants, a fresh blush on his face as he went to the bathroom to get a quick shower.

River grimaced at Tam's entrance, hesitant to say more. Truth be told, she had just intended to tell Serenity, but if there was anyone that could understand her situation it had to be Tamara. Her own father had done things to her that no parent should ever do to their child.

"The reason I fear men so much is because my boyfriend from the city I used to live in...he..." It took every ounce of willpower for the little photographer to keep her voice from choking up completely. It wanted to lodge inside her throat and never let the words out. "He...raped me."

Just those words sent fear through her and tears began to spill down the girl's face before she could stop them. The food in front of her was suddenly unappetizing as memories spilled into her mind, images of that monster doing horrid things to her flashing by.

She wanted to forget but never could.

Kent finally stepped into the kitchen with clean clothes on and frowned at the sight of River's tears. "What's going on?" He asked.

Kevin bit his lip as he took the water and guzzled it down. "I know, Max...God, I know..." There was almost a whimper in his voice as he spoke. "It was just a...shock. I couldn't move until she...God..." Drinking more of the water, he finished the bottle quickly and pushed his hair back for a moment.

The panic was still in his eyes. "God, what if I hurt her when I pushed her? She could...fuck!"

It was obvious the blonde could not think straight at the moment. He had seen this scenario play out back home in his small town. It never ended pretty.

Bonnie looked between Max and Kevin with worry in her little possum eyes.
