A Real Family

"I'll help you with that when we're done." Tam said before hopping in the shower, the moment Kent joined her she went to work lathering him up while teasing him some more. She just loved him, loved being with him, loved making him happy. She was happy, for the first time in her short, bleak, existence, she was genuinely happy.

Once they were done showering she helped dry him off and then set about dressing his leg then helped him get dressed on top of that. Soon they were both ready, it was just a matter of getting Chris ready.

The boy was eager to head out at the promise of going mini-golfing with pizza for lunch and a trip to get a new game. Soon they were out and about, almost feeling like a real family.

And Tam was on cloud nine through it all.

Lisa leaned over and showed Serenity the page the quote was located. "Nothing gold can stay. It's talking about his loss of innocence. See?"

Max nodded but then sighed when Bonnie and Junior knocked over some of his textbooks. "Ignore them... they're ornery because they ate all the cheetos..." He looked to see if Mr. Andrews needed help with Yazuhiko, but it seemed like the two of them were having a fine conversation... whatever it was, was anyone's guess...
