“Oh we are only a single class for the operational training modules,”Johnny - nice twin - said.
“In normal school studies we are grouped by ability,” this was Yvette.
“Everyone in school starts at grey,” Illyana told him. “When you get your school uniform you will see it has grey piping, same for the stripe in the tie. If you go for operational training then your colour tag will change with your completed level of training. Red, orange, yellow, green and so on.”
As Illyana ate something of her dinner, Shakeel took up the narrative. “All us reds have done our first level of unarmed combat. Angie, Illyana and the twins have done basic field craft.”
“That’s spy school,” Gaius chipped in before stuffing more lasagne into his mouth.”
“Me and Yvette are yellows, we’ve completed firearms training,” Eva told him.
Someone wanted to know who he had got as his roommate, and when he told them there was a collective drawing in of breath. Namor could tell that his perception of Ryusaku had not been that far off from the consensus.
Angelica jabbed a finger towards Gaius. “Do not make fun of him.”
“What!” Gaius protested. “I didn’t say anything.”
“And you better bloody not. Or I’ll singe your ass hair off again.”
“Chill Angie. Jeez.”
Angelica turned her attention away from Gaius and back to the new arrival. “Ryu is-”
“Never call him Ryu,” someone said.
“Ryusaku has Aspergers, so he likes order and routine. It takes some getting used to.”
“Angie is not wrong,” Shakeel said. “If Ryusaku’s rude he doesn’t mean it. He’s not being rude, it is his condition, he is lousy at reading people.”
“He doesn’t understand how people work,” Johnny said.
“He is harmless,” this from Eva.
“He got his red shirt though.”
“Not that he would ever be seen wearing it unless he had to Angie.”
They all looked at one another when Namor asked about them all being mutants. They were all mutants.
“Welcome to mutant high Namor.”
