A Price That Can't Be Paid

It was a pretty clear assumption the man probably didn't understand Islana's hesitation about giving up Kaithak. Most people wouldn't.

Before the witch could make a decision about the falcon, the stranger proposed another offer. Stay with him. Here. With all the comforts that came with that.

Given her state, it wasn't a surprise that for an ever so brief moment the idea actually sounded enticing. A very brief moment though as Islana knew the pull would drag her away from here, come the morning.

It was possible he was just lonely but the young woman was beginning to wish she had just kept walking. She wished even more to have found someone who would have just helped her without insisting for something in return, but it wasn't likely that would have been the case.

The fact she knew nothing about him, and the way he ignored her questions made Islana figure she wouldn't have stayed with him even without the pilgrimage calling to her.

Islana shook her head, to indicate she wouldn't stay with him. Which made her think if she wouldn't stay with him and wouldn't have left someone she cared about with a complete stranger, leaving Kaithak with him seemed wrong as well.

There was still water left in the skin retrieved from the girl's body, Islana would just have to find more on her own, as it didn't seem like this man was willing to part with any information regarding that, not without a cost that seemed too high.

Islana wondered about telling him she was on the Pilgrimage of Bones but didn't know how to do that or how that information would have been received.

So, the redhead started to get up to leave, as it didn't seem like this man would be of much help to her.
