Till was gambling again

Till spent his early morning walk looking around the town. It was definitely exciting seeing the newer building construction going up along the streets and he found a nice plot of land that he felt would make a great start to his dream. Of course, he knew he had no coin and the grumble in his stomach made him realize that daydreaming only gets you so far.

As he walked he would tip his hat to everyone he saw. A few would tip their head in acknowledgement and occasionally at Till, and others would give a "g'mornin." Most would stare at him untrustingly, and glaring at him as he past. He knew his appearance wasn't favorable at the moment, after spending most of his life on ships he knew what to expect from the people of any port he happened to visit.

Finally, Till came back around to the docks. Stomach still hungry, he knew he had to find a way to make some money. Quickly he found a dock master who had been supervising and logging all the goods being moved off a ship. After a few kind words about how well of a job the man was doing, Till convinced the man to hire him for the morning. Till was to help the few men that were already unloading the ship and to present the cargo to the dock master for him to put down into his chart. It was a grueling task for Till, but he knew this chore well. Retrieve all the goods he could carry and then stand in line for the dock master to chart what he held. Then he would have to move it to a cart or a wagon that was close by and repeat the task again. Until the ship was completely empty. Then he would get to collect his reward for the days work, which was never enough.

Of course, Till always would skim off what he could from the cargo that he could. Just valuables small enough that he could keep hidden on his person to sell later. Usually just a jewel or two. According to Till everybody working the docks did it. The fool is the one that tries to pocket a good too large that he gets caught and left to whatever justice the local ports had in waits for them.

Till was standing in line with his arms full of miscellaneous items when he heard a voice ring out, "Right this way miss!" He looked over and watched a very interesting figure fall down into the dirt. He looked up and saw a hooded man running off laughing. Looking back down he recognized the person as a woman. A woman, with a sword?

Something tugged at Till, it wasn't right. Then he saw three men walk up to the woman and help her up. They were obviously holy men of some sort of stature.

A holy woman? Till questioned. He had a hunch where the man was going to run off to. He had recognized some seedy locales this morning during his walk. He was definitely bound for one of those... and if this woman is affiliated with the church, then sure enough there may be a reward for the recovery of her belongings. Churches after all had money.

Till quickly did the math in his head which did not take long at all. He quickly dropped the items he had in his arms and took off running towards the direction of the hooded man. Till was gambling again, gambling that the possible reward for the recovery of this holy woman's belongings were more than he could have pocketed doing an earnest days work.
