The Maru Caravanserai

Fang

By the end of your second day travelling the valleys and winding roads of Fang you see your destination up ahead.

As you set foot upon the mountain range you felt you were stepping back in time. Everywhere you looked you could see signs of an ancient culture, the cracked and worn out, faded road you travelled on, outposts and shrines built into cliff faces and buried under layers of sediment and dust.

The fort ahead you were told was constructed as a series of fortifications along the main causeways of Fang. They were massive fortress-like structures with impressive entrances framed by intricately carved portals. These mountain bastions, the ones that survive are located about 2 days distance apart and provided travellers with food, lodging, and protection, once upon a time.

You can tell it was once a square construction, many metres across and built on different levels. The passage of time however has led it to gradual ruin. The state of abandonment is obvious even from far away. The Maru Caravanserai stands stands on large crags and overlooks the next valley. You see one of the towers has significant cracks, causing part of the wall to have collapsed.

You journey onwards and prepare to camp for the evening.
