Fighting The Monster

JP with Omni and Redsword

Feeling a slight tugging on his pocket watch from the braid of Ansil’s hair was a preemptive supernatural signal that Dumont couldn’t ignore.

Sensing imminent danger, Dumont pulled his service revolver from inside his jacket as the all-too-familiar panic pulled at his throat just moments before the commotion started.

He took shelter at the corner of one of the buildings and kept his eye out for the inevitable abomination to show its ugly head.

Sung stepped out as people ran by. His face with complete concentration. It looked like something out of an old Western man standing in the middle of the walkway between the warehouses. Sung dropped the leather bag to his side and had a wooden sheath and a wooden handled Katana. Sung gripped the sheath close to the handle of the sword. He leans forwards just a bit.

Sung glanced to one side to see where Mr. Dumont was waiting. Sung grind and took a few deep breaths. "Come on, big and ugly," says Sung in a calm even tone.

A calm almost stillness emitted from Sung. Putting anyone near him at ease. The Monster came into view. It was 8 feet tall and must be 400 pounds of muscle. Its dark thick skin added to its ominous look. Sung could barely tell it might have been human once. Its arms were elongated and huge. It roared and through a mangled body through a warehouse wall with little effort. Wood splintered and flew everywhere.

Sung did not move Just stared at the Beast before him most of the people in the area ran away or were hiding. you could hear people crying and others yelling in pain. The Beast looked at Sung and roared slamming its fist on the ground several times. The Ground shook trimmers could be felt far away. The monster seems to challenge and try to frighten Sung.

Sung's face lost all emotion and complete focus. He mumbled some words as his hands moved with blinding speed Everything was blurred as Sung moved. With one motion Sung drew his sword thrusting it into the monster's knee. The sword managed to penetrate the knee sinking in only a few inches. Most hit with that type of blow would have a gaping hole right through them.

There was a loud ring nose as the sword shattered on impact. Only the tip stayed as the rest of the sword pieces hit the ground and slid. Sung was only holding the broken wood handle in his hand blood dripped from his hand from the impact. as he slid to a stop just past the Monster and arms reach.

Dumont's eyes widened as he watched Sung brazenly, perhaps foolishly meet this creature head on. He sprung out just behind Sung as the man ran forward. Although he knew it would do little to stop the beast, Dumont emptied a few bullets from his revolver into it's tough exterior and he attempted to grab Sung to pull him behind some cover.

Blood spattered as the pistol rounds hit the Monster but like the sword, it was just a distraction. the monster seems to be more focused on Sung than Dumont. This allowed Dumont his window to grab Sung and slip by the monster

Sung did not look too happy as Dumont managed to get a hand on Sung and pulled him towards some crates. Rolling with Dumont's pull Sung could feel the incredible power of the monster's swing as it tried to backhand Sung. The monster could not turn as fast with a piece of sword in its knee. Feeling the air being pushed from the swing alone. Sung knew there was no way he could block that type of blow it would be like trying to stop a charging elephant.

The Monster roared in frustration as it turned looking and sniffing the air. Looking for anything that moved. Its eyes darting side to side. Some men ran from the cover they were hiding in trying to escape the area. The Monster roared at them and started in their direction.

"Mon dieu?!" Dumont whispered sharply to Sung, wondering what the man was thinking.

As the scene of chaos unfolded, Dumont knew he had to create a diversion, both to protect the innocent bystanders and provide Sung with an opportunity to regroup. He hadn't anticipated running into one of Lemaire's victims in a public space, rather hoped he would catch a lead to Lemaire himself. After the decimation of his previous team, Dumont knew that the two of them would be no match for the abominable hulk without better coordination and backup. They needed a plan but Dumont had to do something now to contain the monster to the area. "I'll distract him. Find something to slow it down or stop it. These bullets are just going to piss him off!"

Taking a deep breath, he pushed his fear aside and braced himself for the imminent danger. With a sudden burst of energy, Dumont stepped forward, drawing the monster's attention away from the scattered crowd. His heart pounded in his chest as the creature turned towards him, its eyes filled with a mix of fury and bloodlust. He fired another two shots at the monster's back. Being a good marksman, the shots met their mark, but only served to turn the thing's attention back on Dumont.

In seconds it was within reach of Dumont who quickly backed away and pivoted to dodge the blow. It was successful, but he wasn't quick enough to avoid a second, as the abomination raised its massive hand, ready to strike, Dumont prepared himself for the impact. With a swift, thunderous backhand, the monster's blow connected with Dumont's chest, sending him hurtling through the air. His body crashed into a stack of crates, splintering them upon impact.

Pain surged through Dumont's body, his breath escaping him in a sharp gasp. Yet, he fought against the searing agony, determined to endure and stay in the fight for those who relied on him. Blood trickled from a cut on the side of his forehead, but his resolve remained unbroken.

As he struggled to regain his footing, Dumont coughed. He knew he needed to keep the creature's attention focused on him. With a forceful yell, he taunted the beast, provoking it further. His strained voice, laced with a mix of irony and defiance, reverberated through the chaos. "Est-ce le mieux que tu puisses faire?"
