Elio Varec, known as "Pawn," arrived punctually for the highly anticipated medical briefing. The atmosphere in the meeting room was charged with a sense of purpose and determination. The medics in attendance, along with commanders from other branches of the armed forces, knew that the upcoming war games on Adonis V would be a monumental challenge.

General William Strathmore initiated the meeting in a commanding voice and a stoic face. "Ladies and gentlemen, this briefing is for the medical teams. Our mission on Adonis V is fraught with uncertainty. The terrain is treacherous, and the enemy remains enigmatic. Our task is to secure the health and well-being of our troops while adapting to this unpredictable environment. In the face of adversity, our armed forces will embrace the 4X – Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate. But you have the important role of trying to preserve life, or mitigate death, so that we can perform this optimally and outlast the opponents.”

Brigadier General Petra Haldane, a short and extroverted tough individual chimed in next. "We'll be operating in small, agile medical teams, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness. The key to success is coordination with the other branches. We can't operate in isolation; teamwork is paramount."

Colonel Javier Santiago, a man with tactical merit added, "Logistics is critical. We've streamlined supply chains to get you the equipment you need when you need it. But remember, it's not just gear; it's the ability to adapt and overcome that counts."

Major Samantha Rosen, a long legged wet dream of at least a third of the barracks, spoke in informative voice that captured even those that weren’t paying attention, "Intel has provided valuable data on the enemy's movement and known strongholds. However, the underground maze on Adonis V is largely uncharted and dangerous. Be prepared for the unknown."

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Alan Carrington, was the last to speak. "Now, when it comes to the psyche of our medics, we must recognize the gravity of the situation. It is natural to experience stress, but it is crucial to embrace the challenge and view it as an opportunity for personal growth. Understand your role, define your values, and take responsibility for your actions. This will allow you to face adversity with resilience and strength."

After hours of discussions, the meeting drew to a close. The other attendees began to file out of the room, but Elio and a few other solo roaming medics were asked to remain. The CMO, Dr. Carrington, addressed them with a stern yet encouraging tone, "You few will be on the front lines of the medical effort, independent and vulnerable. Your adaptability and resourcefulness will be tested. Prepare yourselves, and may you be the guiding light in the darkness." He then went on to brief them on their special agendas and expectations.

Elio took in the weight of their responsibility and left the meeting room, ready to face the challenges that awaited on Adonis V's battlefield.
