RE: [JMC_Blue_Dwarf] \"The Gambler\'s Code\"

Jay steadily piloted the Raven back toward the Blue Dwarf, Trisee's
continuing to pester him for his money.
"Look, Larry!" Jay snapped "I'm trying to fly here!!! When we get back to
the Dearf we'll talk!"
"Talk about you giving me my money?!"
"No! Talk about WHY you didn't win the bet!"
"And I thought you were a man of honour...."
"Would YOU have paid ME?"
"That's beside the point"
"It was Efof and mine's team that rescued them! You just..helped!"
"The deal was whoever got them back to the Raven won!"
"You wouldn't have done of not for...." Jay cut his sentence off.
"What? Realised how utterley and completely wrong you are?"
"Save it Larry" Jay replied "We're being hailed."
Jay put the communication on speaker.
"This is the New French intercepter squadron 'The Baguette Bandit's" came a
voice with a French accent.
"You are under arrest, We will escort you back to New Francais"
"On what grounds?" Jay replied
"Terrorism!" came the response.
"Screw you!" Jay responded and cut the channel
"I see diplomacy is still one of your finer points" Trisee's said.
"Will you just go and SIT DOWN ass-face?" Jay snapped
One of the French fighters opened fire.
"Damn frogs..." Jay mumbled as the Raven shook with the impact, they fired
and fired again.
"Smeg..We've lost thrusters, I'm gonna have to try and take her in on
engines only."
"Are you mad?" Trisee's spluttered
"Why?" Jack asked "What's wrong with that?"
"It means" Trisee's responded "That we're going to be heading for the Blue
Dwarf at full throttle and Captain Wonderful here can't slow us down!"
"So...in other words" Chris said "We're gonna die..."
"Think I'd rather have taken my chances with the Welsh..." Jack said.
"I could always lose momentum by blasting you three outta the front missle
bay? How's that sound?"
"I can live with the brakeless landing...." Chris added.
"Tell you what Larry, I bet you the $£100 I land us safely!"
"Chrysler to Dwarf" Jay said into the radio as the French fired another
shot, this one skimming the ship's hull, "Evacuate landing bay 3, and get
some heavy duty cargo nets ready...."
The bay door's opened as the Raven thundered at full speed toward the
mothership, the large shuttle crossed the threshold into the Dwarf and Jay
pushed the control stick to descend, the Raven hit the metal of the hangar
bay floor hard, and bounced a few times before continuing to rocket forward,
cutting a deep gorge into the landing bay's deck plates, sparks flying. The
Cargo nets had been hurriedly erected to try to slow down the Raven down,
but the ship was hurtling so fast it tore straight through them, and just
went into a skid. Now moving sideways, it crashed into cargo crates tearing
them to shreds. The Raven was top-heavy, so it began to roll, crashing into
parked Starbugs as it did so, dorsal hull colliding with the smaller craft,
and sending them tumbling aside. All that was left to slow the Raven's
landing now was the cold, hard titanium-steel alloy of the Hangar bay wall.
The Raven made contact, smashed through the wall and rolling onto it's
dorsal hull slowly ground to a halt, halfway into the main navigation deck
corridor, upside down. Bulkheads at either end of the corridor section the
Raven had landed in slammed down, protecting the atmosphere in the rest of
the ship.
"See!" Jay offered, handing upside down in the pilots seat "Whad' I tell
ya!"

Subject: [JMC_Blue_Dwarf] "The Gambler's Code"
***This post brought to you by one of the more ultimate JP teams in
existence. Two guys with the same name! (yes, you are clever enough to
figure this out for yourself.) ***
<Snip>
"Just 'round this corner..." said Jay, checking his map.
He turned the corner, and sure enough, found the cells. He peered through
the slit in one door, and saw Chris and Jack both huddled up to themselves
on opposite sides. It was obvious they'd been tortured.
"Guys!" he said "Hang tight...we're gonna get you outta here..."
<end snip>
Jay took a step back, and held out his twin pistols, he fired three or
four rounds into the bolt on the door blasting it away and kicked the
door in. Jack and Chris where in bad shape. "Come on buddy" he said to
Jack, helping him to his feet and letting him lean on his shoulder.
"Jay?" he asked, not sure if what he was seeing was real. it was
obvious that the torture had got to him, and sent him into his own
inner world. The only place that would protect him from the
torturing. Chris on the other hand was still himself, though his
broken shoulder had now been paired up with what looked like a broken
leg. it was obvious that he wasn't going anywhere very quickly. Jack
looked down to him blearily, "come on dude... the cavalry's here" he
said slowly, beginning to return to himself as the friendly faces
appeared in the doorway.
"Can you walk?" Jay asked Jack. Jack nodded, and Jay let go and
instead helped Chris to his feet (foot?) Jay removed his rifle from
his back and passed it to Jack. "C'mon gang" Jay said to all assembled
"We gotta hustle, before they send some replacement guards......or
Larry gets here, I got $£100 to win!"
Jack almost came right back to himself as he held the rifle. He
looked down at it, and recoiled, almost dropping it.
"good god man, where's my rifle?" he asked, handing it to one of the
more random members of the group. He was first from the cell, as he
looked around. After a few seconds, he made a painful sound not too
dissimilar from "arg" as he clutched his arm, a dried blood stain
began to flow fresh, from a nice hole the welsh had made in his bicep.
He tried to ignore it as he grabbed his rifle from a conveniently
unlocked cabinet nearby.
"ok, i'm good to go" he said, speaking through the pain. It was
beginning to become more obvious that escaping for him was going to do
more harm than good, as another patch of blood appeared on his shirt,
and one on his leg. Possibly the work of clever welshmen, trying to
stop him from escaping? More than likely he was just unlucky.
"We gotta get you back fast" Jay said, watching as Jack wandered off
down the corridor, leaving a glistening trail of bodily fluods behind
him, seemingly oblivious to this Jack turned back to look at Jay and
shrugged "What's the rush?" he cocked his gun, and splashed a good
portion of blood over the nearby indian waiter. "I got me some payback
to seek...."
"You can play 'The Cyclops Avenger' later Febuggure" Jay replied
"Right now you, and Chris need medical help, and fast"
"help shmelp" Jack said, noticing the trail of his red stuff on the
floor, and looking down at himself. "yeah, ok.. maybe you're
right..." he said, finally realising what was wrong. He turned the
corner, and came face to face with one of the Rugby players from before.
Luckily, face to face in this situation was about 10 feet away, and
Jack was holding his rifle ponting directly at his chest.
"coincidence?" he asked himself, as he pulled the trigger without a
second thought. The bullet tore through flesh and bone, as it broke
through his shoulder, rending the limb from a now screaming body.
"ooh, that had to hurt..." he said, smiling at his chance for a slight
bit of revenge. He turned the gun on, using the small screen, took
the Rugby players legs in sight. Another hollow-point shell tore
through flesh, ripping a leg from it's former position. "that should
do." he said, leaving him there to bleed to death, feeling it a
fitting way to die, after what he'd done to Chris and himself.
"leave him Jay" he said as they passed, leaving the group that knew
the way to get out first.
Efof led the way through the maze of corridors, Jay slowed down by
helping Chris to walk, Jack and the Indian Waiter, (known as Patel for
future reference) flanked Jay, covering the rear. "Smeg!" Jack yelled,
"They're coming!!" Jay looked back over his shoulder, and saw what
Jack meant, a platoon of rugby players, were pursuing them down the
corridor, weildng all manner of brutal looking weapons,
Patel flung a fork, taking out the Welshman nearest the front when
Efof yelled something. "The frowny man's here!"
"The Frowny man?" Jay replied
"Yes Mr Chrysler, me.." came the less-than Efof like response. It was
Trisee's his team had arrived. "Larry, take Chris and Jack back to the
Raven, the rest of us will hold off these guys and meet you there,
then I'll fly us outta here!"
"sure" said Trisees "But you realise that if I get them safely back to
the ship, I win the bet?"
"Whatever just GO!"
Trisees grinned widely, and rubbed his hands in glee, almost being
able to smell the £$100 he'd soon be in posession of "Happy to oblige"
he said, almost bowing as he let the others in his group carry Chris
out, while he ran alongside Jack, at the back of the group.
"Nice gun" he said, spotting the obviously well designed LCD screen,
and micro-camera attached to it. Jack merely smiled weakly through
the pain of his wounds, and the running.
"thanks..." he said, as they broke into sunlight, explosives going off
around them, as they fought their way back through the front lines of
the welsh, Trisees naturally found the easiest route for them, finding
their way almost directly to the Raven, Where he let everyone in, Jack
instantly collapsed on a bed, and blacked out, finally being able to rest.
Trisees stood outside impatiently, waiting for Jay to get there. His
wallet forcing it's way open, making room for an extra £$100. He
began pacing, hoping Jay was still alive. Not because of their
'friendship' or because they were colleagues, but because Jay now owed
him money.
Eventually, the rag-tag group that was Jay's rescue team made their
way towards the Raven, Jay swung his pistol round, and capped what
must've been the last Welsh rugby player, before finally getting to
within earshot of Trisees, who merely rubbed his fingers together, and
smiled.
"No Larry, i'm not giving you a penny." jay said as he passed Trisees
by, climbing up into the Raven, ready to take the wounded back to the
Blue Dwarf. Melissa had now crept aboard, and was tending to both
Chris and Jack, trying to make their trip a little more comfortable,
what with the metallic beds of the Raven.
Trisees jumped up the ramp, and followed Jay to the cockpit, "you
can't go back on a bet, dear Jay!" he said, his smile beginning to
vanish, wishing his wallet was a little fatter. Jay Ignored him, and
fired up the engines on the largest ship in the Blue Dwarf's arsenal,
conveniently coloured Blue.
The entire trip back to the 'Dwarf, Trisees was giving Jay an earful
about bet's, wager's and other forms of gambling, trying to teach him
'the Gambler's Code'... But mainly he just wanted the money.
