Re: Team Vespidae

Who: Joe Craggins
When: About 10 minutes after everyone set off in the Vespidae
Where: Blue Dwarf
Joe glanced at the mission objectives for Team Vespidae and noticed
what they were up against. Joe relaised on this ship, you can't be
too cafefull and jogged up to the acting commanding officer of the
pilots. After getting permission to go as well, he climbed into a
Space Eagle and blasted off at high speed out of the landing
bay. "Home sweet home!" he thought, as the Eagle zoomed after the
fast disapeering speck that was the Vespidae. Joe set the autopilot
for New Australia and reclined in his seat, taking in the fresh
leather cockpit smell he was used to.
A good while later the computer annouced they had arrived at New
Australia. Joe stared at the bright orange desert planet below him
and disengaged the autopilot. Joe had never seen a desert before.
His time in the space corps had never included any deserts and he
pulled into the planets atmosphere with almost primal curiousty. Joe
descended to quite a low altitude and after running an atmosphere
check to check the air was breathable, he opened the canopey. Hot,
sandy air whipped past him, staining his crew-cut brown hair with
streaks of sand. He felt the twin suns bearing down on him and
immedietly felt his skin tanning. Laughing wildly, he swooped even
lower so that the sand blew round underneath him due to his engines.
Suddenly the flat plain beneath him turned into a gaping canyon 2x
bigger than the Grand Canyon on Earth. Madly, he pointed his craft
down and sped up, so he was hurtling towards the bottem at a massive
speed. Just before he hit the bottem, at the last possible moment he
pulled up, screaming with laughter and enjoyment. He soared out of
the canyon, the sensation sobering him up a little. He wasn't here
on a Sunday school outing, he had to find the others, they could be
in danger for all he knew. He turned the ships radar on and saw the
solitary, unmoving blob of the Vespidae. He gunned his engines and
sped towards it.
