The Arrival

The statis booth door opened with a slightly louder than normal hiss, the only indication that there was something wrong a board the ship. As Evelina woke and inhaled her first breaths for over 3 million years, she started to splutter as the toxic gas trickled down her throat and nose. As she stepped out she could she the red alert was on and spinning silently. She turned to she Holly materialize on the screen next to her. "All personal have been evacuated and would be wise for for you to go as well due to a toxic gas leak, you have been awoken from statis due to damage to your booth." Holly looked like he had finished. " You have 30 more seconds before you will pass out due to exposure. Your nearest suit is at minimum 40 seconds away. Good luck." Evelina took off, grateful for once that her legs were longer than most average people, as she rounded the corner she saw the suits at the end. "You have 20 seconds before you pass out." She reached the suits. "You have 10." She was there and was half in the suit. "5" she was just putting the helmet on. "0" She was safe. Just. Just when she thought everything was going to be alright she heard Holly " The crew are on the planet below, your suit has 3 minutes of air, not enough to find another suit or get to the flight decks, your only hope is to find a escape pod or what ever else you can think of. So you're stuffed as you have no brain." Her nearest pod wasn't within the time that she had left. But, an air lock was. She made her way to the nearest air lock, stepped through the door and listened as it closed with a just audible hiss. As the door in front of her she hoped that she had picked one of the newer suits that could with stand planet entry and landing. She guessed that she would find out soon. As she half walked, half was sucked towards the door she jumped and headed towards the planets surface. "2 minutes of air left." She got closer and closer. She hit the planets atmosphere and felt the suit heat up but not burn. And then suddenly she stopped moving down or what at least felt like down. "1 minute left." Her parachute had deployed. She let out a sigh of relief. "20 seconds of air" THWACK Evelina hit water with a lot of force knock the air out of her lungs. "Air has ... Has " she heard a tiny spark near her ear as the circuits shorted as the water leaked in. She clicked the helmet off with a struggle and let it sink into the murky depths. She kicked , propelling her up, up to the surface. Once there she saw it was a sunny day and that there was smoke in the distance.
