Drinking is Bad.

“Holly, put some cartoons on the timer for her to fall asleep to.”

Then he sat on the edge of the sofa for a while, looking at her drunk, wretched, face. “You’ll feel better soon” he promised.
And he stroked her hair. She looked at him with Puss in Boots eyes.
Then he kissed two of his fingers and put them softly to her forehead, before standing up and leaving the room.

Jade snaked a hand out before Solvay could get too far and gripped his wrist before he got out of range. She snaked it down and laced her fingers through his.

"Don'go" She whispered, a sob catching in her throat.
"I have to" Hurts too much to stay here He tried to gently prise his fingers out of her vice like grip.

"Why?" She slurred, her hold preventing his escape. She nestled down into the cusions and made a small drunk mewling sound as dizzyness began to set in.

"Because you drank too much." He said, missing the point.

"No. Why're you nice now? Why d'you sing so pretty then run away? Was it me? What about the box, d'you get that to trick me into it as well?" She slurred into the blanket. Solvay snorted at being called nice.

"What? Why do you keep saying I'm tricking you when you're the one whose been tricking me?" He frowned for a moment "Is this some kind of reverse psychology? to stop me realising what you're up to?" He finally managed to pull his fingers free and tried to leave again "And no, the box was a thank you." He ran a hand through his hair, suddenly extremely tired "I thought you cared."

"I do." She forced clarity into her voice hoping that he would understand. "I... I..." She paused, and looked horrified for a brief moment before scrambling towarde the bathroom. "I'm going to be sick." She blurted before contacting God on the porcelain phone.

Solvay sighed.

"Chivalry sucks." He grumbled. Running another tired hand through his hair. "You ok in there?" He asked through the door.

"Yeahaaauuurrggh" Came the vaguely positive wet response. After a short period of unpleasent sounds Jade reemerged. Wobbling as she went. Alex moved into a supporting position, but Jade still wasn't quite comfortable with his mixed signals. She lurched sideways out of his guideing hands and tumbled to the ground falling heavilly against the cabinet.

The bang destablised several things on the counter and one of the larger crystals toppled knocking the small jewled box off the top. Jade yelped and squirmed for the box. Alex also instictivly lunged for the box....
