Major Harris ‘The reason being…’

(It's not really adding to the plot nor is it very funny)

Security office
While the party was still in full swing
Harris sat in his office using the eye drops the nurse had given him.
Jill appeared on the screen and said. "Dave?"
"What do you want, Jill?!" Harris snarled putting the eyedropper
away and the eye patch back over his right eye.
"Why did you have me remove your name from the list of promotions?"
Jill asked curiously.
"The chain of command." Harris said.
"I don't understand, Darren?" Jill commented.
"That snot, Smegg, is now a Lt-commander meaning his is now higher in
the chain of command then I am." Harris explained. "Meaning if
something was to happen to Cannon or Niples it would mean that Smegg
would be in charge, not me!"
Jill remained silent for a moment trying to figure out what Harris
meant and then she asked.
"I hate command, I prefer to be where I am now, a mere chief of
security." Harris told Jill. "I'm not a career man, I have no desire
to be officer."
"Bet you couldn't even pass the officers exam." Jill said.
"There isn't a officers exam for security." Harris informed the half-
wit of a computer. "The other departments have an officers exam but
security doesn't."
"So how does someone from security become a officer?" Jill enquired.
"Not a clue nor am I interested in finding out!" Harris
