The Mosquito

Who: Zodar
Where: The Medibay
When: Shortly before the whole gas thing on the promenade

In the time that had passed, many exciting events had taken place - Pretty much all of them bad.
It frustrated Zodar to be sitting in the Medi-bay, watching the injured flow through the doors, wishing he could help in some minute way, but at the same time not wanting to become more injured than he already was.
Luckily, he had a medium through which he could make a difference. Well, that was what he thought anyway.

In his spare time, Zodar had put together a bunch of circuit boards and anti-grav boosters in a hope of creating a target drone for Jay in his Phoenix. This little target drone was armed to the teeth with the most advanced weaponry he could get clearance for on a recreation class drone - Super-charged laser pointers. Ok, so the weaponry couldn't make a dent in the armour of a fighter craft, but to humans... It was still merely an annoyance.
Even so, Zodar picked up the remote control unit that seemed to conveniently be at his bedside, activated the screen, flicked some switches and brought "The Mosquito" as he'd so fondly called it, to life.

Somewhere in the depths of Chris Zodar's room, a shirt rose steadily, hovering in mid air.

Zodar, seeing nothing but blackness on his screen, jiggled the joystick on the remote control. The shirt fell to the floor, revealing a small black orb, about the size of a tennis ball, hovering above the floor silently.

"Let's get up their nose a little bit, hey Mozzie." Said Zodar, guiding the Mosquito out of his room, into the hallway, and into the lift. Just as the Mosquito was entering the lift, the doors closed and the lift started travelling.

"I guess we're going to have company at the next floor." Zodar said, piloting the orb to the roof so it wouldn't be noticed by anyone.
The lift finally stopped, the doors opened, and two pirates appeared, but before they entered one noticed something unusual on the roof of the lift. Zodar cursed silently to himself.

"Hey what's that?" He asked his mate.

"I dunno." The mate replied.

"Screw this." Said Zodar impatiently, lowering the orb to waist height and slowly sailing it between the two men. "My cover's blown anyway."

Surprisingly, the pirates didn't know what to think about this hovering ball. They even made a path for it, while tracking it closely with their eyes.
Once Zodar had guided the Mosquito a few metres from the lift, Zodar hit the throttle/accelerator and sped off down the hall. The pirates looked at each other, shrugged and entered the lift like nothing had ever happened.

"Now, where's someone I can annoy?" Zodar asked himself, transfixed to the screen like a video game, "Oh, hi White Wolf!" he said, even though he couldn't hear him, as the Mosquito flew past the bloodied hamster on his way into parrotts. White Wolf didn't appear to have seen the drone because a pirate was hot on his tail.
"Ah, that looks like a good target, I think I'll just hide inside where White Wolf is heading, above the door... muahahaha, that pirate will never know what hit him." he laughed maniacally. Several people in the Medibay gave him confused looks. It also attracted the attention of a patient who was nearby.

"You're camping." the patient commented.

"What?" Zodar looked away from the screen, confused.

"In any game, that is considered camping." the patient continued

"So?"

"So it's unfair for the other team. You really shouldn't do it. It's cheating."

"So?"

"Fine, but you'll be banned from the server and they might even render your CD key void."

"Listen mate, I'm not pla..."

"I bet you're a newbie... All of you newbies just HAVE to camp. It's your nature. Camp or be.. um.. fragged."

"I'm not playing a video game of any type. This is real.", Zodar showed the guy his screen.

"Hey, that's White Wolf!"

"Exactly."

"Well, ok, but can you hurry up, there's already a line of people wanting to have a go."

"Well, they can bugger off! It's mine!" Zodar paused for a moment. "IT'S NOT A GAME!" He shouted at him, as he clearly wasn't getting the message.

"Touchy..." The patient said, then walked back to his bed.

"Loser." Zodar said under his breath, then turned back to the remote control, waiting for whoever was chasing White Wolf to enter through the door.
