Niples: "Christmas review log"

Captain's log
by Will. D. Cannon
Date: 28.12.2100

We have had a nice Christmas onboard the ship, unfortunately it didn't snow like I'd hoped, but it was nice anyway. The promenade was lit up with bright lights, most of them were flashing red lights which were very christmassy, but I didn't like much of the Christmas music though- it mostly sounded like a red alert siren going off.

Commander Niples is getting very edgey lately, he keeps taking my duty shifts himself and when I ask him if he needs me to take command, he brushes me off and insists that he should do it. But he is always moaning about the amount of work that he has to do.
Personally I think he is power crazy.

First officers log
by Seymour Niples
Date 28.12.2100

As we end the year 2100 I've been looking back over the past year and seen how much our ship has gone through, how much we have gone through. There have been many dangerous missions which we are very lucky to walk away from, some of us havn't even done that.
Some good officers, Penny Lloyd, Kieran Loes, Dr. Van Threk to name but a few have all given their lives to our mission.

I am now sat in the observation lounge looking out into space, I have a good view of the Blue Dwarf's hull down below. It is battle scarred, with burned patches, holes where energy weapons have ripped us apart and we still have a few unexploded torpedo-shells embedded in the metal plating which never exploded on contact as they should. Maybe we would all be dead if they had gone off. A small team is now working to disarm the warheads before they do go off- I think on last count Lt. cmdr Smegg told me there were 4 left to disarm....

::Niples held on to his chair as a vibration rocked the ship.::

...Make that 3.
The Engineers are also working hard to rebuild what is left of the Blue Dwarf, the engines are working at almost half their normal speed, so getting to the nearest Repair Station will be difficult.

Over the past week we have also had trouble with people from other dimensions who are still onboard the ship. The Kayn from the "Nice" universe turned out to be more evil than people from the "Evil" universe and we had a bit of a problem with him taking off in the new Valkyrie ship. We tracked him down but unfortunately the fighter was destroyed, Sensor operator Ensign Kayn assures me he will rebuild it.

James Johnson's alter ego was also killed due to an accident with the dimension drive, and the Evil Phil Febuggure hologram dissapeared somewhere. I dont know where he's gone to, but its good riddence. I dont mind where he's gone to, as long as its not inside our already faulty computer system. Haha.

But nomatter what troubles we get into, it all comes down to the decisions made by one man.
Captain William David Cannon.

It was by his order that we put our lives on the line, and for what reason? We havn't gained anything at all from the dimension jump experiment, or from the away mission to Ffion....well, we did find Efof I suppose, who has now taken the job as Chief navigation officer of the ship. This decision may be temporary untill we get a better pilot, but we'll wait and see if he's any good.
Besides, it seems that Cannon is in some sort of trouble (aside from trouble with mercinaries, the Clarkson Brethren and some deranged grannies). Last week I saw him hanging from the top level of the promenade painted green and wearing a nappy.

I'm sure the list of people who would love to do this to him would not be short, but few people would have the nerve. My guess is that he is in trouble with gamblers, or maybe conspirators or pirates.
I am sending another letter back to command begging them to review Cannon's ability as Captain- but they keep putting it off saying he is "the best for the job". It just goes to hshow how important our mission is to the Jupiter Mining corporation.

I have also recently heard that we are running out of fuel and resources. We may have to do some mining of asteroids if we can't make it to a starbase in time. In our short mission our mining ship hasn't seen much in the way of mining operations, I'm not sure how our understaffed mining department will cope. The new master chief, Stromile Keegan should prove useful to us.

Security chief Frank Harris has been somewhat disturbed of late, the other day he came to my office in his "Transformers" pyjamas because he said he was being haunted by the ghost of christmas past (aka Noel Edmonds), but he seemd fine the day after that as he told me he'd met the same guy in the present and kicked his balls to the future.

Anyways, that about wraps up this log.
