Lt. Cmdr. Smegg - "BFG9000"

> Zack grabbed her by the shoulders. "Well, let's go, baby! Fast-
>fast-fast!"
> Suddenly, another vortex opened up in the deck, and the two
>strangers fell into the hole. A second later, it disappeared,
>leaving Smegg still trying to find something in his vocabulary that
>would be an appropriate response.
> While he was thinking, he spotted the antique coin and carefully
>started to reach for it again.
> Then the door to engineering smashed in, and a seven foot tall
>armorplated muscle stomped in and shoved a weapon barrel in Jason's
>face.
> Actually, the more accurate desription would be that he shoved
>Jason's head inside the barrel of the weapon. All Jason could see
>was a dim red glow at the end of the tube.
> The giant roared. "Where's Richards?!"
"R-r-richards?" Smegg stuttered. "Who's Richards?"
The voice from outside the gun boomed, "Don't lie to me! You know
Richards!" The red glow got a bit brighter.
"N-n-no, sir, I honestly don't! Please don't shoot me!"
"ZACK RICHARDS!!!" the giant roared. "The man who just left here! Number
three on the STCP Most Wanted List!"
"Oh, him! sir!" Smegg said. "He went thataway! sir!" gesturing in a
direction he thought was downward. "In a green vortex thingy."
"All right," the giant growled. He removed the gun from Smegg's head.
"Come with me. If your story doesn't check out, you're dead meat."
"Oh thank you sir, whoever you are!" Smegg exclaimed. Then he saw the
full size of the weapon he'd been faced with. It must have been four
times the size of a standard bazookoid! "My what a big gun you have
there."
"A Big Freaking Gun, Mark 9000, to be exact." The huge man beamed
proudly, even beneath his visorplate. "Best the Spacetime Marines has to
offer. Glad you noticed. Not many potential suspects take time to notice
the little things like that."
Smegg felt relieved. "Does that make you a Big Friendly Giant from the
Year 9000?" he asked.
The gun swung back toward him and the trooper's expression hardened once
again. "Don't get funny with me," the giant growled.
Then the big man said, "I'm taking you to STCP HQ for questioning. Hold
on to my flak jacket so we don't get separated in the time jump." He
pulled out a device similar to the one Zack had used. "Where exactly did
you say he disappeared?"
"Over by that station," Smegg pointed. The giant pushed some buttons on
his device and mumbled something about the velocity of the ship messing
up the spacetime jump coordinates. Then he pushed some more buttons and a
red vortex appeared below them, which they then fell into like Wiley
Coyote realizing he's not on the cliff anymore.

STCP Headquarters
The year 2900
The enforcer led Smegg into the massive building. Smegg took one last
look before entering as supersonic hovercars zipped by overhead. The door
shut with a resounding "bloop." ("They used to go 'clang'," the guard
explained, "but it didn't sound high-tech enough.") The giant then led
Smegg through a twisting maze of passages, all alike, then through a maze
of twisted passages, all different, and finally through a twisty maze of
vaguely similar corridors, stopping every ten feet or so to insert some
security card or another, before arriving at the office of "Dulmer &
Lucsly, Temporal Investigationalists." Opening the door to the
"investigationalists'" waiting room, the giant gestured for Smegg to sit
down. There were no magazines in the waiting room; Smegg guessed that
this was because they might reveal events to people brought here from the
past. He sat down and noticed a poster on the wall:
