I Have A Mouse On My Head

Tam leaned up on her tip-toes and kissed Kent on the cheek. "You're damn right I would." She'd do anything to keep Kent safe and healthy. She sensed his eagerness to get out of the hospital and led him out and helped him into her car. Setting his crutches in the back along with his other things she was eager to get home.

The work to get Tam and Chris into the apartment below Serenity's had finally come through and now it was just a matter of getting moved in. Thankfully, in the time between Kent's surgery and subsequent recovery before discharge, Serenity had hired movers to help with that and had gotten most of the things Tam wanted from her father's house (mainly personal items, her books, laptop, things like that. But not her bed... for it harbored unseemly memories of indignities she'd rather forget) A new bed had been ordered as well and set up. They had even gone to the trouble of getting Kent's things as well.

So when Tam got Kent home, it was just that: home. Their home.

"What do you think?" Tam asked, a slight hint of fear in her voice as she looked up to him to study his face.

Chris giggled and continued to enjoy his ice cream and River's company. Whatever she was saying to Serenity's new coach went unnoticed by him as he was too focused on his ice cream.

Max frowned at Paul, wondering just what the hell we meant about trying to get her help. It was clear she was a danger. At the very least she was a sexual predator...

"Wait, what?" Renee said as a clear ember of rage began to take root in her voice. "After all that you want to stop with our plans???"

Max sighed. "New evidence came to light. The girl's father is here, apparently she has a history of sexually assaulting people."

"You want to press charges?" Renee asked.

Max looked to Paul and what he saw in the man's eyes... was the exact same look he'd been seeing in Kevin's. "No. Just drop it."

There was a long pause before Renee responded. "I lost custody of my son because of this... and you just want me to drop it?"

Max wasn't sure what to say. "I don't know what to say about that, Renee... I'm... sorry..." He felt Bonnie Jr. stir on his head.

"You know what? Fuck this town. I'm going home." Renee hissed. "And I suggest you get a new lawyer..." She then hung up and with that Max looked to Kevin. "It's taken care of."

Then he looked to Paul. "So now what's gonna happen?"
