09.02: Boston Bound - JP Jamie & Noah

“What’s our cover?” Jamie asked.
“Two of you, Jamie and Noah, are new starts at the Charter School. It's a good public school, and plenty of well off people send their kids there. Noah you will be in grade ten and Jamie you are in eleven.”
‘How about our accents? I hef never learned to cover mine up? I sound stupid if I try to do American. And Downton is about as Engles as they come. I do not want to do those electrocution lessons.’
Jamie sighed, irritated by the ‘Downton’ reference. “Elocution,” he said slowly. “Which just proves how much you need them.”
“Don’t start you two,” Frost told them.
Noah smiled. ‘I am just jossing him.’
“Joshing,” Jamie corrected him, he was grinning too. When these two had met they had fallen out almost instantly. But they had been given the chance to do ‘field work’ and when they had started training together they realised that to succeed they had to work together.
“Cover stories have been established for the two of you in Boston. “It is close to the beginning of the academic year and you are transfers to the school.”
“Why us though?” Jamie asked. “Up to now it’s usually the faculty that have done it.”
Emma Frost spoke next. “One of the advantages of having you help this way is that you will be more in the mindset of the young mutant we are looking for. You are more relatable than we could ever be, teens do not have a lot of trust in adults. Have a look at the area of Dorchester in Boston. Your insights as teenagers and experiences of your powers awakening will help us learn how to approach other youngsters going through what you have previously experienced. Also as teens you will think of things that would not even occur to us adults.”
It was clear that this ‘first contact’ process with mutants awakening was not as finely polished as the faculty wished.
Noah could see that there was a definite logic to having adolescents help adolescents. There would be a better chance of there being a rapport with them than some grown up purporting to know what they were going through, claiming they understood what was happening.
