Gonyaul had finished reconnecting with Amu and rejoined the others. The horse now looked like it possibly was going to be in a parade, ceremony, or pageant. It was back on its feet and metaphorically speaking so was Gonyaul.

It looked like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders and an awareness was back in his eyes. He was able to surrender some emotions and concerns to the horse, things that he had not felt comfortable discussing with his companions. He smiled tiredly to his friends. Whatever he had been dealing with had been exhausting.

He gathered food and drink and signed his appreciation to their host. He then looked overjoyed to sink his teeth into the meal, savoring every mouthful. He kept his opinions to himself regarding any plans and simply continued to eat. He was pretty sure they didn’t want to hear that he thought it best they just go to Ostarium, Fang, and the Ozaniae Horde baring gifts and tidings of good cheer. Such things would then naturally lead to negotiating a mutually beneficial treatise.

Seeing Gonyaul return from the horse in such a good mood felt like a step in the right direction, though Tarmen envied his ability to loosen his concerns by simply talking to a horse. The amount of times he had tried was something he would never reveal, but he always found himself trying again after a few months.
Tarmen found himself chuckling for the first time since Gra’akast, the thought of Gonyaul’s cheery attitude returning being some welcome comedy in the sad parade they had become.

Shaking his head, he returned to Alexis’s comment.

“I feel that’s more common sense. He looks enough like a native anyway that by now they might just haul him off regardless.”

Gonyaul realized they were talking about him. He smiled. The clueless joy behind that sweet smile sealed the deal that they would definitely need to disguise him. Better yet, just don’t let him near or talk to anyone in general...
