First Watch - Murderous Thoughts

JP with Alexis, Gonyaul and Hunter

Gonyaul was sitting off to the side with an encouraging smile and sighed in satisfaction. He enjoyed seeing the sunrise on a new friendship.

He was resting, the colder cloth on his neck was helpful in that endeavor. He was also going in and out somewhere mentally. Hearing them mention Voah put the name out into the air of the person who had been running around in his mind and pulling at his heart the entirety of their trip; save the ambush.

He tried some of the meat Hunter provided. His face turned in on itself and he resisted the urge not to spit it out, out of respect for Hunter’s efforts. There was nothing wrong with the dish, it was Gonyaul’s taste buds at fault. He silently reduced his meal to a smaller portion size, grinned and would make the most of it.

Malacost meanwhile was partaking of Hunters cooking. He pretended to care what they were saying; however, he was truly indifferent about the others. Best to eat quickly, move away from them and set up for the first watch.

After finishing his meal and helping to clean up, Malacost moved off into the darkening night to relieve himself. Upon return he staked out a comfortable and strategic spot for taking the first watch of the group.

In his worn and sandpaper voice he advised, “Best everyone get some rest. That skirmish put us behind schedule and we need to be moving out sooner than later.”

Gonyaul finished his self-rationed meal and signed good night to them all. He made his way to his tent and crawled inside. He curled up on his side with his feet snuggled against one another, his favorite position when sleeping alone. His body ached, his neck hurt, and he had a little bit of a headache he was dealing with. Any amount of rest he could acquire before his watch would be helpful in the recovery process.

He began trying to fall asleep by meditating. As he was doing so his mind and feelings started off by replaying the unpleasant ambush earlier in the day. Eventually those awful moments gave way to thoughts of Voah. But before he had a chance to make any sense of them he had passed out.

Alexis excused herself soon after. They did indeed need rest, however fitful it would be given circumstances.

As the others tried to get some sleep, Malacost was vigilantly keeping watch. The firelight painted his salty features in an eerie way, placing emphasis on his less welcoming facial features. He was actively contemplating different scenarios where he would kill Hunter in his sleep to finish the bounty, eliminate Alexis before she had a chance to retaliate just for the thrill of it and take his torturing skills to a new level with Gonyaul.

He sighed tiredly to himself, this was an acceptable way to pass the time, even though each different scenario ended in to poor an outcome to implement. No, it would be best to continue his course for now, lie, and pretend.

If he played his cards right they were going to bring him right to his other mark. Two birds with one stone at that point. He would keep aware though of any instances along the way to get rid of one of them here or there. If they did enter the caves that would probably be an ideal time to murder the more capable of the lot and easily get away with it.
