Reality Of The Situation

JP with Jaxx and Cindy

Islana tried to contemplate in her mind how she could possibly do what Hunter was asking. The man still didn't know about her arm and she wasn't going to tell him. There was the obvious issue that the huntress would be doing this alone and they couldn't stop for long.

"I don't know if we have time for that. I have a shovel - but the rest of it. I'm just not sure. We don't know how far behind he is and I've never done that." Islana sighed. Would it really slow Alcuin down enough to be worth it?

Hunter could tell Islana was out of her element on this one. He knew he was asking a lot of her, especially considering their options. So he spoke up, "How long do you think it will be before he catches up to us?"

"I'm guessing it depends on how long it took him to get his horse back but .." Islana didn't want to say it but it was her calculation. "He might only be a day behind us, at most I'd say."

How long it took the bounty hunter to catch up with them was really anyone's guess. "If we're lucky we might have a few more days."

Hunter then asked, "If he threw caution to the wind it would only take two days tops if he was a good tracker. Can you kill him while being hurt?"

Well, that secret was shot and Islana thought she had covered it so well. "How did you know I was injured?"

Highly doubting Hunter was talking about the normal aches and pains that would come from being thrown through the air the way she had been. Not like that was normal but still.

Hunter chuckled as he replied, "Well you have been drinking the medicinal tea you made for me. Not to mention that bastard managed to slam you hard before your falcon rescued you. Of course I could be wrong and you are fine after all that."

Islana shook her head slightly. "Maybe I like the taste of the tea." Unlikely as the tea didn't taste good but it was a little levity in their current predicament. Of course, based on his response it was possible Hunter didn't know what was wrong or how bad it was. "I guess I forgot to bounce."

Hunter chuckled and coughed a bit at Islana's response. He found it amusing to find himself with another strong woman. Hunter replied, "Sorry my bad. I guess you really like that tea then. Even though it does taste like dirt."

"Nothing like the taste of dirt." Islana responded. So, maybe it was true what she had been told about herself. The young woman was stronger than she realized.

The woman then sobered, "I doubt I can kill that man at all. Slow him down maybe."

Granted she has come quite a ways in her training with Alexis but the man that was after them was clearly well trained in what he was doing not to mention he seemed to enjoy it. There was nothing to be done about her age or lack of experience in this.

Hunter replied, "Yeah well the most I could do now is trip his horse......so don't give up yet. I spent my whole life walking the line between life and death. We will get past this. Only we gotta play smarter since we have less options."
